Last weekend my house burned down and I lost all my possessions. My room mates and I weren't really shaken by it, to our own surprise. None of us are visibly traumatized. It sucks living in a hotel/airbnb and losing your intimate personal space though. I think the biggest negative about it is the new place we found f***s up my commute. But oh well. I've also realized just how little attachment I had for my material possessions. I lost nearly everything but my essentials (phone, wallet, laptop) and I kind of don't care. It was embarassing going shopping in soot stained pajamas but I'd been planning to do a makeover anyways and I love these new pants.
