From today’s perspective it’s insane that Martin Van Buren’s family and community still spoke Dutch as their first language 100+ years after the English takeover of New Netherland. Nowadays, mass education and mass media would mean that they would have spoken only English, maybe knowing a few words of Dutch.

Idk if you mean only language consolidation and decline of minority language but those are certainly accelerating. Sadly, languages which a) do not have state support and b) are not isolated will probably fall by the wayside, even if they have millions of speakers, but just in general I think institutional centralization and technological change tend to accelerate existing trends.

I have many crafts and some days it's exhilarating, other days draining or im just swamped in school work like today, doesn't give me much space for creativity but I can't really complain it could be a lot worse.

I definitely get it. Today is one of those days for me so I guess I was talking to myself through you. But i lost so many years that could’ve been much more fulfilling because i succumbed to pain and pressure. I’ll never do that again
