correct. there were two kinds of alchemy. literal alchemy which was a protoform of science where people would take substances and experiment with them, to create gold or to turn one element into another one. now this was weird because it wasnt based on the scientific method it was based on the fact that they thought there were spirits within the subtances, sulfur for example was thought to be the hot, dry masculine element and mercury the cool, wet, feminine element.

and in the early days of science alchemy was written off, at best, as a form of misguided chemistry. but what Jung realized from reading a lot of these old texts was that some of the alchemical texts were not intented to be scientific at all, they were in fact a metaphorical, mystical tradition which was more about thinking about the masculine and feminine and how they interacted within the mind and spirit of an individual, and turning metaphorically the lead of your existance into something pristine.

Jung then also started using the language of alchemy to describe his own psychological concepts believing it could help and inform people of the changes that can go on internally over the course of their lives, describing physical, material changes as metaphors for internal mechaniations.

and on the topic of the occult; one of its main aspects is the concept of language control, because what you can say is what you can think, and what you can think is what you can conceive of, and if you cant even conceive of certain things you are already a prisoner or you are already going to be lead down their line so actually language literally is a form of magic because it changes what that symbol means in your mind

in the abrahamic religions there is a massive prohibition (in theory) against idolatry, depicting anything that is some of Gods creation, its one of the commandments you are not ever supposed to represent God. if you think about it almost ALL media now is some form of idolatry, its all about making for you representations of things that are real and then having them act out certain things.

why even would for example, somone show me hundreds of movies about police procedures? essentially what you are doing is creating a sort of virtual reality in my mind where I think I've lived life times, I think I've known people, I think I even know what fields and professions do that Ive never interacted with ever. Ive never met a firefighter but I think I know what they do. Ive got an entire world that I think somehow relates 1:1 to the real world.

thats the #1 issue that they can create a whole conception of a world before you even get to touch the world
