I been through similar things in the past, had people do the whole "don't rely on anybody but yourself" and yeah alright that sounds good ideally but that's not practical at all. People gotta rely on other people, that's just reality. What I'd say is keep expectations low for everyone outside of a select few who you've observed that time and time again they come through for you. That way, everyone else if they disappoint, you kinda already braced yourself for it. The people you got your faith in, you do that because there's virtually no chance they disappoint.
