The genre is kinda drying up

Like 2010 came around and it was so obvious who was next up

Like now all that’s left really is Young Thug and Uzi as new leaders

The problem is that neither of these guys make music that’s as personable as Drake or Kendrick. There isn’t a great rappity rapper protege our there with a great story to tell. Half the interesting new talent died young too.

This. There hasn't been a new sound or perspective driving the direction of rap the past couple years.

I forsee hip hop starting to losing popularity by the end of the decade to more international music if there isn't any evolving in the genre.

ghostwritten or not kanye's verses don't ruin the album. he been using writers from day one tbh. ksg was an ambitious effort on both of their parts

The better question is: what are the GOAT standards moving forward? As consumption and marketing changes?

We’re in a new era and we should start to see those new stars settled in about a year, so whoever will dominate will be who can fit those new standards for what a mainstream rapper ‘should’ be, just as Drake fit those standards in a post-Grad/Carter III world when he first came in

It’s hard to see right now cause it hasn’t really started so we don’t have the benefit of hindsight

Hopefully the genre dies in popularity and we have a renaissance of refreshing artists and production choices

Actually you’re close, really the international scene is unreal when it comes to talent and soon some real superstars are gonna come out, the production is already starting to take off to a new level hence why Drizzy Drake copying them already

This one was produced by a KTT poster:
