I also hear people talk trash about early Mac Demarco and Lana Del Rey music. It’s as if they weren’t genre-defining artists in their primes.

    f*** both those artists

I hate to say this but the Beach House discography it feels like a “you had to be there to remember” kinda moment.

They remind me of Death Cab For Cutie, Interpol, and Deerhunter in the sense that they got a s*** ton of press and coverage and now they’re just moments and glimpses of the 2000s

i tried to get into their music last year and it just isn't for me. I know it's a meme to say an album puts you to sleep but they've gotten the closest to actually making me do so

i think TLOP will fall out of love with most people if kanye keeps tarnishing his legacy if it hasn’t already. people have come out of the whole “let’s praise everything kanye does because he’s a genius” phase and the album isn’t looked at as anything forward thinking at all

    Good

I know some zoomers. They can’t name one song or album

the majority of r/Kanye and r/WestSubEver are generation z. most of the twitter kanye stans I've seen are very young. a large amount of ye sxn has always been on the younger side. I am generation z and almost every peer I talk to knows Kanye West and has heard his music.

your anecdote is in the minority.

They prolly just mad they missed the experience of when the album came out, so they try and put something they was around for above it

A lot of MBDTF greatness has to do with it being right after 808s when some people didnt like Ye experimental attempts and thought he fell off then he drops Power as a lead single hyping the whole era up from the jump

So yeah not having the experience of when it dropped definitely would play a part in younger generations ranking

Many people were calling it mid the same year it released. Was one of the few times I can say only critics liked that album because most people in my age range called that album some bullshit when it dropped.

Mfs around me were acting like it was the best rap album that decade lol
