Nothing and it sucks. Old ass politicians and voters holding the world hostage for power games and they dont give a f*** what happens in 50 years cause they will be dead. When they hear 2060 in a statement they automatically not listening cause they think thats so far away like star wars
Socialism is when the production of commodities for the sake of profit ends; the society rather produces for the people and their needs
production of commodities for the sake of profit has proven to generate the climate crisis
Yea we’re gonna die out eventually, but who cares. Who says humans were meant to inhabit Earth forever? Why do we care so much about hypothetical people that don’t even exist yet?
No one is forcing people to drive to work
No one is forcing people to have electricity in their home
No one is forcing people to buy products whos production pollute
What you guys are saying is socialism will stop all those things and more which imo is stupid
@spacecadet look at this
Yes a socialist revolution is gonna stop me from driving a gasoline car to work

you know its more of like.. what infrastructure is available to the population, right?

Sorry but big auto companies literally buying light rail and public transportation systems to scrap them and pave roads instead is definitely part of manufacturing demand
Creating conditions with unsafe and unclean water then using that to sell bottled water is manufactured demand
Electricity can be provided cleanly but it would come at a cost to oil barons so it won’t happen
Yes a socialist revolution is gonna stop me from driving a gasoline car to work
Yes because public transportation would be properly funded and you wouldn’t have to choose between paying $60 a week to sit in traffic or sitting in a vomit odored train that’s hours late

I support public transportation does that make me a socialist?
Genuinely curious as to what we as a people can do to prevent climate change outside of recycling and reducing emissions
By doing things such as what you mentioned, and also being consistent. And also sharing the sense of urgency with others around you, I think a big part of the issue over the years has been complacency and misinformation amongst the public
Sitting around and just pointing fingers doesn't help anyone and is just a catalyst for climate change
Why the f*** would you want to drive a gasoline car when there are going to be more efficient alternatives soon smh
After 6 pages I have decided that what we can do is get offline.
@BA
The three largest polluting industries are energy, transportation and agriculture. Eliminating profits is not going to eliminate the need for these.

What does this have to do with anything I said
Better yet, why not design cities around foot traffic instead of paving massive roads that require you to give money to the auto industry
it's already too late, people in our generation are going to see massively calamitous events from climate change in our lifetime. think twice before you decide to have children fr

Efficient but not affordable

wat. profit incentive doesn't exist in particular industries?
It's literally everywhere -- in ag, people pollute more because its cheaper and gets them more crop
in energy .. oil and coal is cheaper but worse for the environment
transportation .. roads are cheaper but worse for the environment
