    BDK vs Rakim
    Jay vs Nas
    Wayne vs Lupe
    Drake vs Kendrick

I'm just waiting on the next version...we're overdue. Lol

    Yeat vs Carti

Eh it wasn't that polarizing back then though, aside from maybe Wayne vs Lupe but even then mixtape Wayne was a beast and everyone acknowledged that

There's a damn near civil war going on in rap rn between "club" rap, "street" rap, "experimental" rap, and "conscious" rap, to term them very broadly. Never seen this much division artistically before

I agree. Not even Jay and Nas stans were at each at each other's throats this much and that beef was MUCH more heated

What makes you think he can't do a song like the shoe fits when he's done songs with storytelling way before drake lmao. His entire first album was an interconnected story with higher highs than drakes. Even just how much a dollar cost is in that same lane and was done better.
Drake always gonna be the better hit maker but that's his lane. Lyrically he's significantly above drake and even cole.

FEAR dunks on anyone of those type of songs from Drake

  • Nov 21, 2023

Last time rap was this divided was the East-West feud and that ended disastrously, hurt the culture in the process, and had some involvement from the feds

It's a new psy-op rn and it's convenient that it's gotten a hell of a lot worse since post-COVID/George Floyd protests, just like the east-west beef skyrocketed conveniently after the end of the Cold War and the Rodney King protests and when ringtone rap blew up during the housing crisis

It was heated on some rap s*** and mostly between the rappers themselves. The immaturity of the Internet by nature would make it harder for people to communicate with each other as much as we can now online, but even then like both artists had their respect firmly in tact and that is probably the most notorious beef in history at this point

same thing he always did. he isn't like drake or cole. those are fan centered artists who deliver what their fans want

kendrick will deliver based on what critics want

    that being great music

Keep in mind too that the hip hop police 100% exist, the CIA has investments in hundreds of companies through the use of their dark budget that gives them an undisclosed amount of money to do whatever they want with it without reporting it to any agency even within the CIA itself, and that the Nixon admin actively funded record labels to sign right-wing country acts as a means to drum up right-wing nationalism in order to sway white moderates away from the civil rights and anti-war movements of the late 60s-mid 70s

It's nothing new lol. All this beef is being precipitated through huge commercial outlets. The "Kendrick vs Drake", "street vs conscious" s*** didn't develop organically as someone who was very involved in the mid-2010s in hip hop scene as a fan and small-time blogger. It genuinely came out of nowhere and confused a lot of people in the process, right around the time the Trump era began.

Would not surprise me to see this as US intelligence flexing its muscles to foment more culture war beef to distract from America's pivot toward fascism and growing wealth inequality. They've done it with movies, music, literature, art, everything lol Goes back at least to the 1940s

What are these bars that were so amazing on the new drake? I swear some of y’all hear those type of beats and think no matter what is being said that they’re barring out.

Morale is literally better than any Cole album, and better than every Drake album since 2015. Cole’s next album will certainly not “make Kendrick’s audience go towards him” unless it delivers on the level of quality that Kendrick’s albums always have. Kendrick is in his own lane and always will be. I fully agree that Drake can outbar him lyrically but he is most definitely not a better songwriter. Kendrick can most definitely make a song “like” the shoe fits in terms of songwriting. See Mother I Sober, Auntie Diaries, Worldwide Steppers. The list goes on. You say there’s no lane left for him to truly shine but that’s simply not true. He’s in the same lane as he has been. Delivering timeless music and incredible albums. Even if morale might not fit that description for you it’s only one album. It’s very much not enough to entirely discredit what he’s capable of creating as an artist these days.

FHD way better than Morale and More Life probably more enjoyable than Morale

You might like the album but these comparisons are a bit of a stretch tbh, morale doesn’t stand up to most of these guys albums tbh and you’re right, that’s ok

  • Op really likes drake is still the hit making machine he used to be
