Jan 5, 2022·2 repliesSmacked VoodooI know they say "Don't judge a book by its cover" but ion know man. To me, when an album has bad or lazy artwork it tells me that the artist just does not give a s*** and that the music will also match the low quality/effort of the album artwork.
This isn't a rule though and of course it's different strokes for different folks, but from my personal experience, I have found bad album artwork = bad and/or forgettable music.
Like this album cover in particular is pretty doodoo as is the music itself

ASAKII thought Drake was trolling with CLB's cover at first, but s*** makes complete sense when you see what his goals with the album was.
The album is titled f***ing Certified Lover Boy. It's an intentionally cheesy, mostly bright, surface-level album about chicks and blatant ass consumerism. I can't think of a more fitting cover.
The slight problem is that it has tracks like Knife Talk and Jay-Z verse on Love All which makes the cover looks ridiculous in comparison lol

have you listened to the album? TSU? In The Bible? Girls Want Girls? Way 2 Sexy? N 2 Deep? Get Along Better? The Remorse where he talks about staying unattached cause "niggas fall off when you love em back?" Majority of the album is like that lol.
The album description on apple music by Drake is "a combination of toxic masculinity and acceptance of truth which is inevitably heartbreaking"

yeah kanye's body of work is such an interesting example. i wonder if he thinks the TLOP and ye artworks are more authentic and representative than the trilogy and MBDTF.
