The audience interest has been significantly diluted and affected by the accessibility of streaming is the point we’re trying to make. It’s never been this easy in the history of the music industry to discover and listen to music. That was always gonna have its side effects, both positive and negative

i jus think thats the easy target and low hanging fruit.

mixtape sites and low tier dsps not upgrading themselves with the times, rappers devaluing the art via oversaturation + lack of vision / effort and regressive labels not knowing how to navigate the current landscape all take precedence for me. and while yes, im sure streaming has exacerbated those issues- i dont think its the fallguy to blame for all the degradation.

that kind of accessibility is a gift. the problem is the exploitation behind it which is run by a machine thats always existed. the byproduct is that now audiences share the same perspective of artists as expendable. and thats really a microcosm for globalization and information overload. its hard for artists or the consumer to care about quality of work when everything else in the world is a fast food commodity

    Execution.

Out of the hundreds of Hip Hop acts, how many artists actually had a good rollout/single/video/album/merch/tour?

can’t upgrade with the times if you never made a profit

that’s why most things are lost to the internet forever. most of the things from this era will see a similar end, it’s inevitable

Social media like Tik Tok and Streaming sites f***ed up Hip Hop tbh

Those broccoli haircut mfers, Nelk boy looking mfers, Neon looking mfers, AK’s fan base, Adin Ross mfers that have no idea about the culture but they want to gain s*** from it

I blame rappers for even giving those losers a platform

most the current generation of rappers are video game/anime nerds man. yeat, opium, you name it.

it was inevitable. honestly blame Kanye, Wayne and s*** like LMFAO and Miley, plus that EDM phase rap went through in the early 2010s. these artists today are a product of that time, they weren’t on blogs, they were in elementary/middle school listening to the mainstream. it made rap cool to the audience you’re describing

it’s why a lot of people on this site WILLINGLY admit they didn’t start listening to hiphop until 2015/2016. s*** is sad

Maybe. Corporations have brainwashed one entire generation into thinking it’s okay to borrow music based on a monthly subscription. Gotta hope the future cares more.

    Don’t disagree with that take

But I still stand with mine as well. Those bozos have made it clear that they don’t really f*** with Hip Hop, but still wanna use the platform for their gain. Then you got lil kids watching their s*** and getting influenced by those streamers take

Too many rappers have gassed these losers up

“Should we get a streamers plane to wireless”

There’s too many rappers treating it like a side-hustle.

Nah you right! Streamers are the new DJs without having to follow payola laws. A neon can take straigh cash for music promotion with no shame.

Plus labels having control over the whole music process from creation to promotion to release to post release promotion. It is fully controlled by labels nowadays.

Discovery is also so expensive because blogs and big platforms only take money for promoting your song.

As an independent artist all you have is praying to the algorithm gods.

Mixtapes have no capacity to exist anymore because everyone treats everything on streaming like an album, and everything that’s not on streaming they whine like children to be officially uploaded and either refuse to listen to it outside of DSPs or straight up don’t know how to

The whining about those Carti loosies was extremely lame, it takes less than 10 minutes to tag a file and put it in your local library manually

He threw them on an expanded edition of the album when those could’ve been 4 new songs

  • Jul 10, 2025

People who cry and beg for cdq leaks to be added to albums/deluxes are some of the most annoying types of people.
