Was planning to buy some TruthEar Hexas tonight as a readily available alternative
Had some Dunu Kima 2's in my basket but took em out yesterday

Yesterday I had some GK Kunten's (most popular sub 10 buck IEM) & some Tanchjim Bunny DSP's arrive
I know I'm new to the game but damn I'm not sure if I actually need more than what I've got now. Knowing the TruthEar Hexas are supposed to be very neutral/flat meant I'd also use them for the occasional mixing session too

I'm just a music listener though, I don't ever see myself caring much more about the finer details about IEMs. So I'm currently thinking of giving the TruthEar Hexas a miss & just chilling with what I've got

Although S/O to that KTT poster who was a major audiophile who dropped big bank on them Campfire IEMs (Andromedas I think?) a while back

So far so good. The only concern I had before buying was that the headband would be too tight, based on YouTube reviews. I haven’t had that problem myself, and I kinda have a big head. Yeah, no complaints on any level from me.

But good man... I haven't really heard a lot of negative things about it which is good!

I'd say my preferred genre in music is hip hop but upgrading headphones made me realize how incredible flat and boring most of the production is. It actually blew my mind how amazing other genres are like classical or jazz wth I got my veil lifted

GK Kunten the budget king, V shaped, can get for 5 bucks

Tang'Zu Waner SG II Red Lion, bassy, rotate between them & the GK's when i don't need to be as careful, only bought it for the accessories to use with other headphones ~20 bucks

Tanchjim Bunny DSP neutral bright to V, the DSP cable (which you can also use with other headphones) which you can set to any EQ setting making them very flexible. Can set the EQ setting on my Android, save it to the cable & then use it on my iPhone ~25 bucks

TruthEar Hexa, neutral to bright, i use them in the stu & for listening to music, flat/'bland' & that's how I like it ~75 bucks
Happy I got them as they are actually noticeably better than all my other in ears. Definitely worth it

If i was starting from scratch today I'd get the
Ooopusx Op.22 basically a cheaper (~35 bucks) Hexa but with a dial you can turn that boosts the bass, two sounds in one
or the Tanchjim Bunny DSP, super flexible (or jump straight to the Hexa) & then eventually spring for the Crinear Reference (he aimed for his best personal preference of flat) when they're on sale (~300 bucks) & be good forever pretty much

Got some Bose QC Ultra Gen 2's as an upgrade from 700's & currently I feel indifferent/disappointed

Need to do a side by side test or something to help ease the indifference

The new design feels worse & more fragile, my 700s feel sturdy & look brand new to this day. The collapsible hinge on the Ultras feels weak & the case isn't noticeable smaller so it doesn't feel worth it. The matte black design was so simple and understated, the newer design feels less premium & the old touch controls felt more intuitive than the new physical button & redesigned touch volume strip.

Been using the Bose 700s for 5 years and they served me well
Only issue is the absolutely atrocious earpads, they deteriorated & the glue came apart which made the noise cancelling non existent, bought new earpads early last year which fixed it but now the new ones are showing signs of wear.

Was going to trade my 700s in for a small discount on the QC U2s but ended up buying em open box for even less than that would've cost, so I guess at least I might feel less disappointed if I paid more.

Also not that it matters but... the packaging if the newer headphones was so much uglier than the old ones. Not sure where this whole aesthetic regression came from, maybe envy of Sony's success?
