I agree. His best work is with Kenna. With that being said, Pharrell was clearly the genius in the group. I only gave Chado a deeper listen because some contrarians kept making it seem like they were equals, when they weren't.

I agree but Chad still talented as f***. Blew my mind when i found he played the saxophone on The City is mine by Jay-z.
Hard to say who's clearly the better producer without knowing who contributed the most to the beats when they were working together during their prime.
As artists Pharrell is clearly ahead because of his songwriting though.

Hmm depends what you value. Pharrell had the songwriting chops but couldn’t really play. Chad had the instrument chops but didnt have the songwriting.

All the drums/basslines/melodies/main song/chord frameworks? That was Pharrell.
All the saxophone/guitar/synths/effects/insane bridges? That was Chad.

It’s easy to say songwriting is more important but at the same time neither solo Pharrell/solo Chad are anywhere near the consistant quality of their Neptunes work imo, (Pharrell has his moments but he’s honestly a bit overrated as a solo producer) therefore its best to say they are equals in that they both complemented eachothers weaknesses to put out their best work.

it's hard for me to call them equals when pharrell's solo work is this significantly better than chad's solo work

i think he just has a weird personality honestly.

I guess so but it’s an unfair comparison.

Pharrell is an frontman/pop artist and produces/writes exactly like a frontman/pop artist would. Chad is a behind the scenes instrumentalist/producer and that is what he set out to be and his production reflects that.

What i was saying was although their roles may not be equally appreciated they are equally important when it’s comes to the neptunes.

He looks to be sedated from psychotropics, probably suffers from a psychotic disorder

Anti-psychotics are brutal in their side effects, they give you symptoms of parkinsons

i remember thinking the same a couple years ago after he posted some confusing s*** on twitter. he was always goofy, eccentric; now that he's older and solo maybe it came out more.

also possible he developed a mental health problem, spoiler bc i hate speculating on that s\*\*\*

he doesn't look bad in that recent pic, just goofy. lot of younger dudes posing in the studio for IG have looked worse. you can't really tell if anything's up just based on that. pharrell looks high, chad could be too, or doesn't want to show it, etc.
