This group mentality s*** is killing a good part of our society. People won't admit that either.

People have been doing this just fine for a looooooong time before the trend started

• Education was free, but woefully underfunded
• Healthcare was free, but underfunded to the point people would literally bankrupt themselves going to Tunisia/Turkey/Jordan over receiving healthcare locally
• You didn't receive anything for getting married, you didn't receive anything for getting a child
• Man made river was true
• Golden currency can be added to the endless list of delusional goals he's had since he went crazy throughout the 70s
• The entire country had spent 3 decades crumbling due to his senseless actions that isolated us from the rest of the world, this garnered him a lot of hatred within the Libyan populace (he was liked by some though, but in my experience growing up in Tripoli they were few and far between, often with connections somehow through the military or other means)
• The farm stuff is what he said when he initially came into power and was used to steal land and distribute how he saw fit, before he was ousted you just had to buy land off of other people just like anywhere else, nothing was provided by him for anything ever unless you knew the right people (pretty much defines his whole administration lol).
• Gas and cost of living in general was definitely cheap though, it is still is a lot cheaper than other places but inflation and other issues have made it 3/4x times in price.

Libya's gone through hell since gaddafi was ousted and is a full out proxy war (I've only been able to go back a handful of times since I left after the revolution). But make no mistake, Gaddafi brought this on himself lol, he refused to look inward until the late 2000s, constantly trying to sell a dream of pan arabism or pan africanism, or of revolution in general. The country widely began to loathe him as other oil rich arab nations began to develop rapidly and we couldn't even get reliable electricity, and so when the arab spring came most of country widely supported revolution.

This is a good one. Historically speaking monarch, or god-empreror, tzar has negative connotation but there probably has never been a great leader with intelligence, compassion and empathy for all. Everyone that I’ve ever read about seemed like they were out to gain something, often times no matter the cost.

It’s kinda unrealistic to think a US president can fix anything within a 4 year term. That isn’t enough time to do anything constructive on national, or global scale. It truly takes a lifetime, and the lifetimes of our children and grandchild to effectively change anything i this world.
