You invented someone to argue with. I said it was a cool pocket.

Breath control was usually part of rapping yeah. And doing it live. One take. That was part of the craft at one time.

    oh come on bruh lol

I don't disagree per se but you kinda just being difficult with bro lol

  • The idea of this was way better than the execution, I think you gotta rap slow over this and let the beat breathe

I responded to someone saying this proves everyone wrong who said he "couldn't rap". Well, he literally can't rap that verse. It's pieced together.

I said it was a cool pocket. Someone else brought up his ability.

    A. that doesn't mean he "can't" rap that verse in one take it just means he chose to punch in which is a choice you can make for sonic purposes and editing it's just a normal recording process thing
    B. 90s rappers would do that all the time just not commonly as a stylistic choice lol

  • Didn't hear All The Love instrumental playing

90s rappers did not do it "all the time" compared to modern rappers. Night and day. Guys will go in the studio and make the whole song up a punch in at a time.

hence "just not commonly as a stylistic choice". big part of this is cuz they were recording on a***og and off the dome wasnt as common in studios.

side note, freestyling off the dome thru punch ins and writing a whole verse then rapping it involve dif processes and skillsets btw it isnt like someone who does one is now skilled and not the other lol. People might even do a one take to figure their verse out then punch in the parts they like, or punch in then rap it in seperate long takes or one long take its just about what effect you want. I don't think yall have rapped in the studio much before to care about this distinction lol raps come together in all types of ways. Any time i punch in a verse its something i rap in one whole go when i make the video and theres times i did one whole verse written then punched in parts of it to make it sound better it's just a tool.

You brought up the era with the least punch ins and compared it to the era with the most punch ins. Am I supposed to agree with you?

I'm the one who brought up the distinction between studio rapping and rapping irl. Would be weird if I was unfamiliar with the difference between them.

nobody argued that people back then didn't punch in less, people punched in less because RECORDING TECHNOLOGY WAS DIFFERENT you couldn't cut and paste s*** as easily it was a***og tape. so using "he did it in studio" to say he cant rap would still be silly. Your rapping in studio reflects your rap skill. Cuz u r rapping.

If using punch ins isn't an insult, don't take it as one when I point them out. Plenty of rappers can double time without punching in though
