threads that get reused as different album threads over & over got locked

sab thinks only having album threads is somehow going to save ktt and all the new traffic is going to let him be an internet janitor full time

  • Hope the album version got more knock to it but that Zilla beat crazy

Griselda thread was basically y’all trying to make a Griselda section without having one. each new release for every artist got discussed in there for like 7 years. it was like 20 artist threads (in the way artist threads aren’t supposed to work, doubling as album threads) in 1.

mod team let it slide when all Griselda members in total had 100 listeners combined, but they’re not some unknown underground collective anymore. separate threads for each release like every other artist on here.

if/when artist threads come back, Griselda thread will remained locked. separate threads for each artist at a minimum, keeping them together makes as much sense as combining the Pusha T thread with Big Sean & John Legend in 2026.

Why can’t the simple solution be to just have a group thread and a separate album threads? There’s no where else to discuss Griselda and the thread had more insights and discussions than anywhere else on the internet

unless you’re thread limited for some reason, the point is for you to make spaces to discuss those artists

and no, not a Griselda megathread. have a thread on each, they deserve respect as individuals.

I don’t get the point of starting a new thread anytime I see Westside talk his s*** on Twitter / IG or for every feature Conway may jump on or for every beef Benny might get into.

The Griselda thread has less than the total interactions as a single star artist would have on their album release day

what problem is individual threads solving tho cuz for example this thread only has so many replies cuz people are confused about why this change is being made. like if you said a new release drops = make an album thread that would be logical.

the idea maybe works on reddit to have individual artist subreddits because of the way the site works in that 1) it has a large enough userbase and 2) it promotes posts that gets upvotes and as time passes those fall off the front page, but on a traditional forum where posting means a thread gets bumped to the top until something else takes over i don't see the point of this "every artist has a section" thing you guys wanna do.

like imo this site has way bigger issues to solve than artist megathreads.

well yea we’re almost on the same page here

1 - new release = new thread, that’s been a thing forever just not so enforced

2 - the “every artist has a sxn” thing is still a work in progress and can change direction the way it’s implemented, but

3 - we have the trending list at the top for artists who are getting talked about more than usual now. in theory, when new albums drop or if an artist does something to warrant more discussion than usual on here, they’d be in that list. with the Griselda thread, that guarantees no Griselda artist will ever be in that list. that’s why it’s important to have at least separate artist threads for each of them instead of lumping them together. plus album threads on top of that. idc about new threads for singles.

ok but most things that would get posted in the griselda thread are not things meant to "trend". like if westside gunn posts some s*** about a new wrestling collab that's probably not gonna get a lot of attention but maybe interesting to people who are griselda fans who are checking out that thread cuz it was bumped.

you said "Griselda thread was basically y’all trying to make a Griselda section without having one" but i would argue that makes more sense than having multiple sections full of low reply threads or sections for random weed carriers that few people would care about on their own without the grisleda relation. these guys also have like a 99% audience overlap so i think your good music comparison is also poor.

and i dont really know what you mean by "idc about new threads for singles" as of rn cuz so far you're locking artist threads so there is no option to just have those in artist threads. plus i think it's bad when artists like west and conway like to announce/tease projects that never actually drop. west heavily promoted "michelle records" and that is maybe never coming out, stove god has had multiple rollouts start and stop, etc. seems pointless to split the discussion. for big artists and those with distinct "eras" i could maybe understand but i don't think that's the case for the majority of artists these days.

this feels like trying to reinvent the wheel of how the forum's culture has worked since forever. most people who actually acknowledge this change seem to be opposed so who is really benefitting except maybe provider getting to use his album thread template more.

They just want to beat into us that new releases need new threads, artist threads will come back apparently. I just don’t think the habit will stick—eventually newest releases will only get talked about in the greater artist thread instead of the album thread, or it’ll happen in both threads and unnecessarily split the discussion up when it could all be in one.

yea i don’t mean that to say “let’s get them trending” i mean that discussion gets lost in Griselda thread when it encompasses so many different topics.

do you salivate at the mouth at seeing a high page number when you post in a thread? combining 600 different 2-page threads to make one 1200-page thread is just ridiculous, way worse than having a ton of low-page threads. if you can’t get into a topic because it has low page count, you need to reevaluate why you’re cloutchasing on ktt2

and yes, make a new thread for each of the pumpfake albums they announce. that’s the point. this is a discussion forum.

with this line of thinking, the only logical conclusion is that you want one thread per artist for every artist

okay, let’s follow that thought trail:

what if, within that single artist thread, there were mini-threads for each new album or new single? and other threads for random stuff they post on social media. or side projects.

wait a second, that’s just what artist sections are. you follow that logic far enough & you just rebuild artist sxns again. and artist sxns only thrive when there are a ton of threads to post in.

Needlessly reductionist and presumptive reading of the way the site has already worked for the better part of two decades
