Wes Anderson and Paul Thomas Anderson both making dad/daughter films in 2025 with Benicio Del Toro in them

I too think wes is due another stripped down Rushmore/Tenenbaums movie some time soon

but I also think people are locking themselves out of some of his most earnest/inspired/thematic/cathartic movies by tapping out with his style and thinking style is they are at this point.

This looks a bit more like a caper screwball old timey comedy like grand budapest which I think is a great change of pace. But again, some people will see everything he’s done since isle of dogs as iterations of the same self indulgent Wes motions, and this defo won’t feel like a change of pace to them

This might be a bit of a hot take, but I think The Grand Budapest Hotel was the absolutely peak culmination of Wes’ unique style and ever since then he’s just become a pastiche of himself. I think at this point for me to be truly excited for a new Wes Anderson film again it would take something that looks completely different than his last ten years of work.
