i thought i wasn’t following u but u using your government name i c u
wish o could give something in between 3.5 and 4 stars on lttrbxd
I had it at 4 but bumped it bc I couldn't stop thinking about it lol
the alien posing with the asteroid for the pic might be my favorite movie moment this year so far lmaooo

Just try and you can. You get a lot more out of a movie than you think. And everyone gets something different which is fun.
Like someone interpreted the "if you don't sleep you can't wake up" thing to be about quarantine forcing us to reckon with ourselves but I was leaning more towards the workaholic stuff being a way to work through problems without actually working them out. Both are true and they kind of fit together, but again, it's fun to compare notes
watching this with a girl on saturday. Whats the post movie talk going to be like you think?
"I liked Fantastic Fox better"
"I liked Fantastic Fox better"
Fantastic Fox is perfection
Casuals right this time

I actually get uncomfortable when I sense people ain’t f***in with something
Makes me anxious
Jason Schwartzman is actually so underrated
TWO of the best performances of the year

Maybe three, cause he plays a double roll here. I was talkin bout Spider-verse.
Ummm.
People have always accused Wes of being an unemotional filmmaker, and I’ve always thought that was a load of phooey, cause every film has had at least one moment that cuts right to my heart…
But this one?
I dunno guys. Postmodernism is cool and all, but it’s only cool after you’ve already got attached to the primary story. The stuff about our loneliness and anxiety in the universe felt… trite? People say this works better on rewatch, but what exactly is there to entice me to come back? This is Anderson’s weakest crop of characters. Am I missing something?
It’s funny that this film is about first contact, cause by my estimation, it just might be Anderson’s first miss
I disagree that postmodernism relies upon narrative attachment

So you’re saying that the intellectual pursuit of postmodern art, without attachment, can be satisfying to you, in itself? I typically need characters to connect with if I’m gonna hold a film in my heart. I find the exceptions to that whenever something is so unique that it becomes an experience. So, for instance, Skinamarink, and Inception, and 2001, these films still affect me even without that anchor.
Most of the characters are like minimalist sketches of characters.
This is good

Yeah
I don't really connect with characters. More I feel a connection to the director through their characters. This is why I love Ingmar Bergman

That’s fascinating bro
That’s so cool
Will this make my d*** hurt? It feels that this is the directors intended objective

Only if you watch it right
I sound like I’m tryna be ironic lol
I could see that but I know you're very genuine so thx
Its annoying sometimes, a lot of times people love a movie, say how its full of heart and emotional, I watch it and its just the most standard s***. Like, some of the scenes in Irreversible are peak romance to me.
La Notte is a great example

tbf the reason la notte is so highly respected is because of its influence on cinema
I don't really watch movies too often, so my pea brain was struggling to follow along.
It was OK I guess. The colors and camera work was fun to watch. Plus some of the themes I was interpreting I've seen others talk about itt so I don't think it completely went over my head

Maybe, I love it for innate qualities. Platonic ideal of an art house movie

Irreversible as peak romance is wild tbh
You do you broski
I had to read the Roger Ebert review to realize what a masterpiece that movie was
Never seen La Notte
