@Bad_Finger_Boogie said it's very dark but I can't find an explanation onlinedunno if anyone answered you yet ( @Ithaka probably saw this somewhere by now) but basically Rivers father Frank is in his 70s now, sometime in the last few years he was brutally beaten while walking home from work, now he's no longer able to eat solid foods and the beating is causing him gradual brain damage so piece by piece he's losing cognitive abilities
Dead Roses features lyrics along the lines of "they beat you till you begged to live, you were mine and you were always mine"
