I wanna sample the (what i think is a piano) on dead roses that s*** is so dark but beautiful
ithagoat the legend
some thoughts after my first listen:
its just full of great melodies and choruses, you will probably say this is a thing that weezer never stopped doing right and this is fair. i was afraid that rivers would somehow end up in the car commercial type of song (ho hey, fun.) but he never did, at least not completely, even at the most boring songs there were still very charming passages and the production worked generally in his favor (like when 'playing my piano' turns into martha my dear or the very lovable moment of 'everything happens for a reason')
this comparison won't make much sense but i sense rivers turning into a full on jonathan richman post-modern lovers figure, it probably didn't happen already because he still makes music under the weezer name, but i would be perfectly okay if he started releasing like spanish or italian albums or maybe an album full of covers from 50s and 60s songs
goated review from the best oat... love you
thank you for listening and giving such in-depth review 🙏 ♥️
totally agree, rivers said it had to happen bc he’s big on classical but saw weezer as a rock band and didn’t want to go soft too soon but it all came at the right time and im so grateful it doesn’t get too serious, only 30mins short and lot of sweetness and bops to it
i see the comparison, he did said he’s working on a solo album inspired by barry manilow so you’re not far off - he wants to bring back beautiful 90s ballads like Whitney houston and what not that ppl don’t really do anymore - thru rivers songwritting style and intact vocals i can’t wait for it
Next song for me
I was sleeping on bird with a broken wing first listen tbh but now
I wanna sample the (what i think is a piano) on dead roses that s*** is so dark but beautiful

goat recognizing a goat
I felt since the beginning of me listening to Weezer that they are about melodies and songwriting more so than being seen as "hard rockers"
The way they use vocals is more interesting than most of what I come across in modern music + it's not what I expected from a rock band
Them being "different" in that regard is what drew me to them (well after being introduced by some cool ass dude 😏)
not much just dealing with lotta bs thank god this is here to help me block it out, kinda, and you
here for you brother
much love
Y'all sleeping on "dead roses" let's talk about it
the story behind that one is HELLA dark

yeah weezer were known as a rock band when they started bc it was the scene back then and they’re hold onto that in that regard but they were always about the melodies and hooks and thru out the history of music scenes and their progression into that that’s what always kept weezer what it is - how infectious and instant it is
never serious s*** but always smartly crafted with great skills and knowledge, diverse and fun
