MTV News reported in 2002 that, at the Summer Sonic Festival, Axl Rose of Guns 'N' Roses met with Rivers to discuss a possible collaboration on this song, but this never came to fruition.

this was around the time Chinese Democracy was being recorded right? Would make sense bc i heard Axl was recording with literally everyone around that time lol

the whole recording of Chinese Democracy has kinda fascinated me for years, Axl basically worked for years to make his MBDTF and then failed big time. Kinda super interesting.

see i hated that record bc everyone jumped onto hate it and you’re pressured into it

but isn’t that easy? isn’t it more challenging to try understand where axl was coming from for so long to finally drop this?

i havnt listened in too long so idek anymore whats it worth ill have to give it a try but i used to be a sucker for this i love

In a way it's kinda some big misunderstood auteur masterpiece, Axl kicked everyone out of the band and just went from scratch to create this grand masterwork for years and like I said, basically make his equivalent to MBDTF but idk i don't even know what to pinpoint exactly but none of the pieces fell together and I can't consider myself a real "fan" of the record as much as i am an enthusiast of learning about the recording process. But I do think it should be talked about more bc like wtf that was such a big thing he made like wtf pretty ambitious especially for a guy coming out of his scene in the 80s, idk why it failed so hard for me. Some weird industrial rock moments in there lol.

like im not even throwing around MBDTF to just compare it to some contemperary release look at what Axl was going for and him and Kanye circa MBDTF basically had the same ethos for their projects lmao.

but u gotta give GnR props for being basically the only band from the glam/arena rock era to stay relevant during the grunge/alt rock domination era. Both Use Your Illusion's came out the same year as the Nirvana boom and still was huge, f***ing Spaghetti Incident went platinum in the thick of it all in 93.
