Tbh weezer prob the most covered group ive seen in all concerts

I can remember 3 times that stood out to me

1)
First was brand new as mentioned above. It was unexpected. But it was the cherry on top of an amazing show. That night was more or less perfect. I had also taken a girl i really liked to the show even though she didnt f*** w the band like that. When they did the undone cover, it just felt like evrything that night was aligned for me. I told the girl i liked her after the show and we :​twisted: when i dropped her off at home. all things considered, I cherish the memories of the show and cover more than anything else that night

i actually referenced this before to ithaka about 'screamo' or 'hardcore' bands dropping a weezer cover in the middle of the show. For me it was the band Fall of Troy. He's done multiple covers of weezer throughout the years. One time the band got so pissed that the band just f***ing quit mid-set. I know he did a weezer cover and am 80 percent sure it was butterfly. The band was exploding in popularity and the 'fame' was getting to his head tbh. People were like "holy s***, they just disbanded and the last thing we are gonna hear is this weezer cover. "

Anyway, oddly enough, one of the times i saw him, he also did a quick butterfly cover between songs. it was f***ing goat, and of course, most people are not students of history and didn't f***ing know the classic. the thing was when he played it at this particular show, they were more or less still mostly 'screamo' before they started going more pop in their sound, so it really f***ing stood out and the scene kids were confused af LMAOOO

by the time of their third album Manipulator, they had exploded further in popularity thanks to inclusion of one of their songs on guitar hero two years earlier. one of the tracks on the album is oh casino which is f***ing DRIPPING in weezer influence:

during this tour, and all ones later, he would play weezer covers or licks during their set more regularly

** i just realized ive been rereferring to the band as both HE and THEM. they are a band, but the lead singer/guitarist Erak is essentially the band in terms of creative control, popularity, leadership, eetc (which caused rifts and issues throughout their career a la weezer )

3) alright so here it is, from 2011

Context (a lot of NEEDLESS s*** but it's nice for me to remember this s*** so f*** it):

so i know diplo kinda has a s*** reputation nowadays. and he's putting out some lame sht (the last i checked). BUT, back in 2011 he was an absolute f***ing hero of mine. he was making awesome s*** and was always referencing a super wide variety of music. this particular show was a "secret" sxsw show that was free at like a small cafe. i remember it was a monday night, and i was on a f***ing date with a girl at the time LMAOOO. i actually was an hour away from the show in a different city, and i had asked my friend to check to see if they were letting randoms in (officially you had to have a specific media/industry credential to get into these type of events but many of the parties at the time had staff that just dont give af or dont know to check for certain credentials. they assumed that if you knew of the event, then you were likely invited and good to go in.) ANYWAY, i'm on this f***ing date with a girl i actually super liked tbh, and i get a text from my friend that he got in, and they didn't check s***. i'm f***ing GONE. it was awkward as s*** because we were just chilling in her car after eating in this empty ass parking lot, and typically this was the point where we'd make out or whatever but i had to f***ing end that s*** IMMEDIATELY lmao. i make up some random excuse and end the s*** AWKWARDLY. I get in my car and SPLIT. it was midnight at the time, and i know diplo as the headliner would be going on roughly around 1.

i speed the whole f***ing way and make it right around 1am. i was worried that the dude wouldn't let me in, but he did. i walk through the entrance doors, and as soon as i turn the corner to the area where the show was, i find myself right in front of the dj booth area, and diplo is getting his s*** ready to start. i f***ing made it.

the crowd was roughly under 300 ppl. small af.

anyway, it's an amazing show. just awesome.

at the point of the video, it's a little past 3am, and im not sure if this or a pixies song he played was the LAST song of the night, but i think this one was the last.

after this, the show ends, and after the crowd disperse, i see diplo and ask for a picture and he says YES.

the overall theme with these weezer covers was that because weezer was so special to me, any time i came across them in another time of my life, it kinda was like...a sign that i was seeing something special. Again, this idea that the universe was just aligning s*** up for me. For this show, I was lucky to get in, i was lucky to make it there right on time to the exact second, i was lucky to have him end the night with weezer, and of course to meet him and get a pic. just s*** that i wont forget for the rest of my life, and a large part of it that makes it better is because of weezer
