It’s like Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve x Changes by The Zombies by way of Panic at The Disco. For an orchestral album, it’s fair to lead with possibly the most pop oriented song on the record. Rivers like no other artist he’s compared to or shares company with is able to navigate those delicate moments of melancholy teen sadness and confusion melodically through a poignant existentialism that creeps in like a radio hit gone wrong.

also rivers said harry nilsson was his greatest influence for this album, specifically mentioning “NILSSON SINGS NEWMAN”

loved it! feels very genuine. orchestra is obv new for weezer but doesn't feel out of place at all. wonder if the rest of the album will be like this, or if this is deceptively the poppiest song on here.

but it is NOT the second weezer album i would recommend by any stretch

blue and green both sounds way more like the pop rock side of white
