been listening to this track a lot lately, those synths are crazy
!https://youtu.be/XnX-0mR1RJUjulian casablancas fav weezer song
love this live version of it, there’s an extra guitarist on scene for that tour so they nailed the solo and somehow played live it comes off a bit more... westernish??? or is it me

there’s a fun fact about this tour ill share later but have to go to work rn

!https://youtu.be/XnX-0mR1RJUI think the demo version that was recently released is better personally but yeah it’s still a fun song regardless which one. It has like an infinitely better hook in my opinion.
Been revisiting Blue a ton the last few days and it’s still one of the most perfect debut albums I can think of. Only In Dreams

while i go back to Pinkerton a lot more, i definitely think Blue is probably the better album
Another Bright Eyes song that reminds me a bit of Weezer. Like I could see some variation of this being like a Maladroit leftover.

woah never heard of this semi acoustic buddy holly performance, 1994:

yea man this rewatch just solidified the show as my top 3 oat
cinematography is just outstanding almost all the time and that cold distant feel is also so unique to the show i feel like.
those last few episode will probably destroy me once again
also make sure to drop by the thread along your rewatch

this would be stage 4
that’s funny bc idk if rivers has ever shared the actual original red tracklist
not sure at top of my head if i can put things together of what would’ve been, ima have to research back into it but i sure can give you my alternative take on what a perfect red would be
1 pork and beans
2 greatest man
3 troublemaker
4 miss sweeney
5 dreamin’
6 pig
7 heart songs
8 king
9 the angel and the one
10 the spider
now isn’t that a classic rivers penned that lives up to a 10 out of 10 classic weezer quality album?
(i switched up the order to make it flow together better)
So I listened to it like this and damn does Spider hit even harder. Made me grow to appreciate some of these songs more. I do think Greatest Man is better as an opener tho.
Foolish Father I think might be a top 10 Weezer song or at least a top 20 for me
been listening to this track a lot lately, those synths are crazy
!https://youtu.be/XnX-0mR1RJUso like i was saying during this tour they had this thing going on where they would have a spot for a random person in the audience to come on stage to sing undone with the band, as it was captured during this live in japan performance from which i posted the this is such a pity performance:

(weird upload i know but other ones are down)
you can watch the whole show if you want anyway, it came with bts footage i think they intended it to be a dvd, it also has a performance of island in the sun totally acoustic with rivers going near the crowd:

great show actually, good set list too and renditions of some songs, performance of don’t let go is banging
during a stop for the tour they once got a guy on stage who seemed to know his s*** and instead of singing undone verse he went for.. blast off! what a legend:

what’s funny is a lot of this set up the red album in hindsight: band members taking leads on songs as it would become a theme of the album but also the public coming on stage which they would expand on for the red album tour but much like it went from band members taking leads on tour to them bringing their songs and singing them on album that also went bigger: from one person from the audience to get up and sing undone now they organized at each stop local musicians of all sorts of instruments to join stage with the band for island in the sun, phenomenal:

i mean just look at that thumbnail...
my goats, yall are sleeping and uncreative
Been revisiting Blue a ton the last few days and it’s still one of the most perfect debut albums I can think of. Only In Dreams
only in dreams has to be the best alternative rock song of the 90s or top 2... who else pull off such an intense build up song
while i go back to Pinkerton a lot more, i definitely think Blue is probably the better album
feels so good to let pinkerton away and go back to it, truly never ages, the emotion is so brutal raw and intense, rivers really put it all
but blue has a healthier balance
hmm what's this comp it's on
some obscure 99 compilation ill have to check it out
damn i have 3 episodes left (or like 2 cause im gonna finish the 2 part finale on the same day most likely)
just finished "gone" today
i have all cable and all streaming services so ill get on it there’s bunch i gotta see yellowstone etc

i was reluctant as to put spider at the end cause the angel and the one is so special and with that atmospheric it ends a weezer album quite uniquely, but it flows in so smoothly with the synths that follows the mood of angel and the one ending
glad you liked it and yeah overall it’s far less goofy and upbeat far more serious album put this way but so good
you think so? greatest man is goat song but i feel opening the album with it is a little much and over the top no? there’s a lot going on in it, feel pork and beans helps pick it up and then leave some good energy for greatest man to take on, but id have to give that order a try
@Vagabonds @Choking my red lovers, you should give my alternative tracklist a shot it’s a vastly different more mellow result but highkey genuis material
Foolish Father I think might be a top 10 Weezer song or at least a top 20 for me
actually been going back to that one a lot more recently, it’s growing with every listen.m, very heartfelt
the live version is so good they would bring a choir:

man experiencing that album live must been something with the trilogy songs too

Yeah it just really feels like this dramatic over the top opening to let you know the album is gonna be special and experiment a bit.
