i need to catch more sleep and work going crazy but doing great beyond hyped for the album the world isn’t ready to hear this s*** they have no clue bro, rivers has mad confidence to refer himself to it as the masterpiece to the point where the label runs with it in the promo and mentions the album as the masterpiece even brian bell who seems clueless and not the type to go back to listen to their own music said the album is all he been listening to for the last month

it’s scott first album and the one where he had the most influence for sure, but it was mostly weird for rivers bc he was hardcore on d****, he did or said some s*** i won’t even share here bc

oh that’s bc the fans where like heavily onto blue and pink and like praising only in dreams and rivers made some hilarious comments about that song saying it was GAY GAY DISNEY GAH MY BROTHER ALMOST DISOWNED ME but idk it’s prolly the d**** kickin in he wanted to do new current music yknow

yeah issue with weezer community is they try to run with a narrative and how u should like them i put some ppl itt onto weezer hardcore and just listening to albums as it goes and most of them are ranking the red album like first or second fav tbh and that’s how i like it and wouldn’t want it any other way no one should tell you how to like something

blue and pink had their fair share of great lenghty posts and facts trivia history checks itt and some new comers are getting around it and loving it (blah says his fav is the blue still and he’s up to mb) i even shared about sftbh to some of them and they loved it! it’s just to me i like to keep the best for last for them to gradually warm up to it and appreciate rightfully but also bc on my end i feel like EVERYONE else will tell you how great those albums are and that’s what’s been done for years now and id like to spread more about other things they did to prove my point that they’re the only exciting 90s band and relevant one still going - and ok human is another proof at that

hahaha that's wild rivers said that. very hot take, but i'm not a huge only in dreams fan so I'm not even that offended. It's hard for me to remember what was playing on the radio back then, but I don't know if I'd describe maladroit as particularly poppy. again, weird that songs from it are never included in setlists or anything, I feel like it's the album that would be the most fun to perform.

yeah i felt victim to that narrative too when I first started listening to the band. I would check out their other albums and be like "wait I'm supposed to dislike this?" with that being said, pink, blue, and white will always sit on top for me, but every weezer album offers something really exciting. critics and fans just get too worked up over what weezer "should" be. which is why its super cool you're introducing new fans, cuz they don't gotta be influenced by that bullshit.

rivers gives no f***s but i think that’s why he feels odd about the whole mala era

it’s a shame bc if u check out the lives of that time they were beasts musically speaking and jamming a lot, massive machines - the bass riff scott improvised onto burndt jamb is my fav s*** ever and it’s still not a song! a crime, weezer needs more funk like that

mala was during the whole massive skate rock take over and numetal to which rivers contributed some writing credit so it’s def in that vain, not totally oblivious about it ofc it’s still weezer filtered but like a song like dope nose or gigolo marks that stamp imo

yeh those songs would be so cool to have live again.. they tease burndt jamb some time to time but rivers never songs it and even when they play dope nose or keep fishin rivers always leaves it to brian or scott to sing it youre right actually he might not be a fan of that album... dam

i get into that too bc i discovered them with red and was massively bullied for loving it so much and i never want anyone to feel that again and fall into some elitist condescending shot day what you want about weezer trajectory but they remain fun and entertaining thank god they didn’t just stick to tryna me indie sounding or whatever it is they want them to be

and i said all this by agreeing with you: blue pink and white are the trinity altho id add pacific daydream to me those 4 albums are the holy peak of the mountain i do really love red and green and mala now too lol

but yeh im not underselling blue or pink to anyone ill be the first to stress to check out the b sides because combining both of them you get two new albums worth of their golden years

but i don’t insist on it more than the rest bc thats just stating the obvious 4chan reddit poseur opinion and doesn’t make for any conversation or different interesting takes

for some reason people act so pretentious about blue despite being one of the least pretentious albums of all time. weezer's just fun that's all there is to it. even when they experiment, it's fun experiments.

tbh i haven't spun PD enough to give a fair opinion. i felt like when it came out it was really derided. but you're the second hardcore weezer fan who says its top tier so maybe I should check it out again.

yeezer 2... haha can't make any promises. if it comes naturally maybe. there's definitely notable omissions on yeezer 1.

exactly blue is intelligently fun! it’s genuis crafted but of its time and intentionally so, rivers wasn’t trying to prove more just do cool music of what was going on - exactly like what he’s doing now

ty id love it if you give it some share spin, some new comers itt ranks it as his fav with a 10 out of 10 and says get right is his fav song period

to me pd took some pages off of white songwritting and made it pop, it’s sixties more than ever with the bbs influence but modernelly put together and very rich kinda like red in that way, very diverse in the best way
