honestly the more i listen to Mala the more i feel like there was some influence from Siamese Dream era pumpkins
that whole drum thing u hear repeated on a lot of songs (idk the technical term lol) sounds super 90s pumpkins to me

mala is by far the best weez album regarding the drums - pat absolutely snapped the f*** out 🥵 even more so during the live shows of that era when they would improvise or play old songs and switch them up such as mostly the green album which was really revamped thru malas energy

that’s one thing i miss and would like the band to bring back when it comes to rocking it out is get that flow again cos the musicianship was all around crazy there

i did a post for green anniversary (this year is its 20th anniversary) with live versions of each songs (plus the bonus stuff) to make revisiting the album more fun as lord of them live were redone with new drums flows and guitar solos

yah mala is definitely the best album when it comes to sheer rocking out. I know around Red album Pat wanted to do more work on guitar then drums which is why they mainly used studio musicians for Raditude so i wonder if that's kinda why the whole rocking out factor isn't exactly fully there right now.
