    What's your favorite

tired of s***is just so real and so amazing with the riff and how the drums goes brazzy, bass all alone the place, amazing synth.. what a way to start the album

but across the sea is just so intense, the monstrous emotional rush the solo is and then the bridge where it breaks down and picks up, flawless crafting although falling for you is as massive and immersing, across the sea is just peak in terms of raw emo dirty take

do love no other one tho

my take away is that he wanted to prove to critics and be taken seriously not just a joke band he was putting into so he def must’ve take it from nirvana bc that’s what he wanted weezer to be then

yah exactly! I feel like he saw the move Nirvana did and thought that was definitely the sonic direction Weezer had to go in order to fulfill his vision
at least, that's what i theorize

i feel like for people just getting into weezer it'll be viewed as lower point on the album cuz the subject matter and some of the lines would be viewed as sorta.... ~problematic~ these days but to me, as an actual bi person, the song is probably one of the most confessional on the record, like, this really is kinda a wimpy subject matter to write a whole song about and I feel like Rivers recognizes this and makes the song one of the most dramatic on the record and basically PLEADING for this girl to like him in any shape or form. The "Everyone's a little queer // can't she be a little straight?" line particularly could be seen as kinda off-putting by today's standards but to me it reads more as just a rambling plea for any reason for this girl to like him, desperation basically more then him actually believing that.

Also just in general the song is probably one of the best on the record when it comes to instrumentation, that SOLO, MAN.
