rivers co-wrote this on the second album of the rentals and it shows beautiful chorus

in 2004 during rivers rebirth through vipassana meditation he reached out to anyone he did wrong or where things turned bad - things got with weird with matt when matt sued rivers for royalties over the bands two first albums back in 2002 (which makes no sense, rivers wrote the songs... but matt looks like to be a little insecure b****, doesnt this sounds similar? mike love suing brian wilson..) but all that was left behind and he reconnected with matt sharp in 2004 and participated to one of his acoustic show (believe this was when matt sharp was promoting his acoustic solo album)

they played some weez songs together - and announced they were working on a joint album which we still to this dah know nothing about or what was done out of it, something or some sort of recording or session must’ve been done bc they performed at this show a new song they both penned and sung and it’s beautiful, the bridge by rivers kills me ...

this is the only version we have of the song, since nothing came out of it one fan who is the half of the project homie (and the great band the lunatic which ive both covered if you recall) recorded a studio cover of it, beautiful and gives us just better quality of the song

funny you bring up the Brian Wilson & Mike Love comparison bc Matt always struck me as a Mike Love type especially after him suing..... just a real weirdo, but I'm glad to hear they were actually able to patch things up, wonder if we'll ever get anything out of the collaboration project. Time Song is really beautiful would love to hear what else they have.

Yah detractors of everything weezer post-pinkerton glorify him as if the band died when he left and even though he was talented it's not like he was some heart and soul of the band like people usually claim, like Mike Love he just is loud and has a huge ego but the difference between him and Mike is that nobody who has interacted with him, especially Rivers, would speak out against him bc they're too passive so he never got the same douche-bag label history has giving Mike, giving people this weird false belief that he was the genius behind weezer and THATS why everything fell apart after he left!!!! When you repeat something the right amount of times and loud enough, people will inevitably start to believe it which seems to be the story of Matt. Just seems like a big time weirdo to me and lowkey bitter cuz nobody else in the group wanted to be as self-serious and lame as him.
