havent listen to much deluxe songs, gonna do that after the black album, feel like most albums from anyone deluxe versions just bloat the album and make listening the album more unenjoyable

the deluxe songs in weezer camp are usually super short, like 4 songs and mostly the best stuff, red deluxe songs are exceptional and part of the original vision rivers had for the album

same with raditude deluxe some of the songs were the original session before it became the album we had and it’s depressing bc s*** like prettiest girl and run over by a truck are stellar material

Big fan of Pinkerton. I kinda like the blue album but it doesn’t hit for me like Pinkerton does. Still have to through their discography

used to be like that but by now it’s blue album any day every day

white album is probably your next best shot, there’s both of blue and pinkerton feel to it yet modern and new ideas too

Oh s***, it is great . Don't wanna get my expectations up but Van Weezer is starting to look promising... This and End Of The Game are such fun, classic Weezer songs man (Hero wasn't it for me tho) hope the rest of the album delivers these vibes

I am still dissapointed they shifted from the White album's classic Weezer sound, but the new songs from Van Weezer are aiight

van weezer lowkey looking like it’s gonna give the white a run for it’s money tbh

im happy i think it’s healthy to bounce back and forward from classic sound to new and different material

I think no matter what I am just gonna like White better because I think it is their best album, but best case scenario I can see this being a lot similar to EWBAITE

yeah actually the new song was written during EWBAITE sessions (rivers is selling home demos packs rn on his website for each eras - as like a continuation of the alone series but digitally- and the ewbaite one has the demo for this)

but i agree i listen to white as much as the blue

it’s just crazy for a band so long into their career to have pulled this off tho lot of them dies or only lives off of one or two cool songs that reminds you of the better stuff

Damn I had no idea it was from EWBAITE sessions, makes me kind of curious if the album is gonna match up or not. Honestly, I'm actually more anticipated for Ok Human since Sinclair is producing it.

And yeah White actually might be better than Blue for me, it just encompasses everything I loved about Weezer, and it is the best overall piece of work they have in their catalog. They could've kept going with it too to really redeem their other works

yeh rivers does that a lot, he writes new songs every day of his life so sometimes he lets some stuff and recook them

for example of all the demos that got released, this gem came out of it, i believe from the ewbaite days:

what rivers did is kept working and reworking sections and eventually other versions had different bridges and what not (these alternatives are available too but no one has put it on youtube as of now) and then one of the chorus he switched too ended up landing as a bridge on jacked up

so it’s fascinating how the songwriting progresses, however the original version of hawaii (in video above) remains a whole different song of its own as you can tell, as is rumored that they went back to it and it’s gonna be on van weezer?

but yeah, ewbaite is different bc there’s a whole theme but then van weezer i guess is conceptual altho the more we hear from it the less “80s rock arena” it sounds like, sounds more like traditional weezer

the rollout is a mess due to covid, vw keeps getting delayed and now the label is hinting ok human might drop before so? or that we get a song from it or something

from the snippets we heard it sounds glorious tho, would be a shame to surprise drop it during covid if no tour can back it up bc they been talking about doing an orchestral tour for it which would be insane

as for white, i agree but id say quality over quantity you know? one is good enough to undo imo

I guess I might be too harsh on their catalog, 4 great to classic albums are enough for any band to have.

And that Hawaii demo is so good, I actually peeped another one after this post called "Since You Came Around". If it is gonna be on Van Weezer (which would be so dope), I would love if they had the Since You Came Around chorus and the guitar solo in Hawaii. That would actually end up becoming one of my favorite Weezer songs of all time if they don't change too much.
