this reminds me of this whole thing about wheatus

when they dropped their song teenage dirtbag it was famously part of the mislabeled files you would get on torrents s*** and would show up as weezer, makes sense

anyway in 2010 while doing some shows in uk some journalist tweeted something like GOING TO SEE WEEZER CANT WAIT LOVE TEENAGE DIRTBAG SO MUCH

choosing wheatus as their name rlly might've been the downfall of that band making them one hit wonders. 1. Its just a stupid name and 2. why would you have a name SO similar to weezer when u make music in the same wheelhouse as weezer it's not like they were making death metal and had completely different audiences they were pretty similar in their styles. I actually listened to some of their other tunes one time and they were pretty solid goofy power pop jams but i feel like they kinda screwed themselves with that name. That or maybe the kinda novelty record vibe of Teenage Dirtbag but people (even Rivers himself) made the debate that Buddy Holly was kinda novelty and they made it work so idk about that.
