probably the goat indie band
one of the best discographies of the 90s. Amazing songwriting with really interesting/cryptic lyrics and I love the guitar work and sound. lots of great b sides and other gems too
my rank is probably:
1. Slanted and Enchanted (an all time fav)
2. Crooked Rain Crooked Rain
3. Brighten the Corners
4, (tie) Wowee Zowee and Terror Twilight
fav songs: (no order):
Summer Babe
Trigger Cut
Zurich Is Stained
Here
Frontwards
Elevate Me Later
Gold Soundz (top 10 song ever no exaggeration)
Range Life
Fillmore Jive
No Tan Lines
Rattled by the Rush
Half a Canyon
Shady Lane
Date with IKEA
Starlings of the Slipstream
Spit on a Stranger
Major Leagues
Harness Your Hopes
interesting fact: The great random B-Side Harness Your Hopes became their most popular song on Spotify as a result of being included on algorithms/pushed on generated playlists for some reason. its got way more plays than their actual hits. heres an article about it: stereogum.com/2105993/pavement-harness-your-hopes-spotify/columns/sounding-board It's interesting how in the age of streaming, a band's most popular songs can be essentially redefined just as a result of algorithms because of the way a lot of people discover music now

yeah they kind of went intentionally non-commercial with Wowee Zowee.
Interesting part of that album is that theres no flow between songs and its actually intended to be listened to on shuffle. a lot of very creative songs with different styles but it makes sense that it wasnt exactly a big commercial success
Would love to hear Weezer cover You Only Live Once by The Strokes and for them to cover Burndt Jamb by Weezer.
yeh stephen said it himself 😞😞
And I sit at home, cry to Pavement
I wish I was Stephen Malkmus
😞😞

dam rvi SNAPPED THE F*** OUT
havnt listened in years but wowe used to be a big fav of mine during my elitist too cool for popular stuff what is weezer lol years
love that fact, it’s fascinating how much more potential there is to this but it’s just a matter of plateform
imagine if this was played on a big playlist or showtime thing:

that’s kinda why im running this thread so hard idk how many ppl i put into by now here who were like what’s weezer never listened to an album and i just link do you wanna get high and its immediately, that song deserves more highlight and is such a perfect door to the bands overall legacy bc of how pinkerton it sounds but still rather “recent” and “new it actually is (almost 5yo now but in terms for how long they been in the game it’s still rather current.. right?)
feel like im the human algorithm lol tiring but worth it
no cream gold in your list? some pixies s***

did y’all see this video? in it stephen malkmus directs the “new” pavement which is performed by veruca salt - it was originally gonna be weezer! that’s what stephen had in mind @Ryuka @grimes

stephen something like that yeah but not negatively, just that he felt outsider and the spotlight was taken from him and pavement kinda but he says he likes weezer it’s all good
