Rodeo was the album that got me into hip hop seriously, but from there I did my due diligence; listened to every widely regarded classic album, joined KTT and started exploring the underground more

Tf no. Everyone is here from ktt plus the banned niggas

Agree with OP that hot takes are usually garbage threads.

Like „MBDTF sucks“ is a terrible thread that gets made and recycled quite often.

But gatekeeping is also corny so maybe we should just all collectively ignore lazy ass hot take threads and not make them 15 pages every time.

I started heavily getting into rap around 2014-2015 but around that time I was listening to hella classics instead of the new s*** (save for the DJ Mustard BS that was on the radio)

If you're talking about people who routinely praise mediocre popular artists then I get it, but if you're mad that people have different taste in music than you then why bother lol

Not that it really matters for me when anyone started listening but respect for admitting that, you’re one of the posters I wouldn’t have guessed that

Music is sooo vast and broad I was more intrigued by rock and electronic as a young one but hip hop has grown to be very important to me as well

What’s the logic for people that are hostile to the idea that if you are new to something(rap) your opinion on it isnt valuable?

  • If you didn’t start listening to rap between ages 0-12, you need to

I would say there should be some exception between the ages 12-15

But if you started listening to rap in your late teens then you better learn the history and get to know all the previous work or just stfu and don’t bring your opinions to the table.
