What made you think it was ever that way in the first place?
I just try to pay attention to everything - if someone posts a fit and it amasses a ton of likes fast as s***, that's probably enough to know it should be FOTD
But there are multiple reasons why just relying on likes isn't enough (if the thread is moving slow/a fit gets bottom paged/etc) so it's always been helpful in putting up FOTD for people to actually quote fits and to see what they're saying about them (ie a thread getting quoted a bunch with constructive feedback probably shouldn't be FOTD) and that's why I always encourage people to quote fits and not just passively like things

because there was talk surrounding it early on
a thread getting critiqued a bunch prob wouldn't get a lot of likes tho yeah?
