You mentioned thrifting at some point, if you're able I'd try to thrift a pair of cargos or just wider pants in general

Military surplus stores are a good option too if you have any in your area

Don't sleep on military surplus either, you'll be swimming in cargo options with those and it's easy to find cheap in person or online
