uzuki -- new soba restaurant on the greenpoint/williamsburg cusp area. on the pricy side for sure, wonder how things will play out for them due to their pricepoint

i got the plain duck broth w some ume paste on the side, the combo worked well. the noodles were rly tasty, the duck broth is super flavorful and rich, the ume cuts it perfectly. if you're expecting a very springier bouncier soba, its not it, but it is still good and has a nice buckwheat flavor

they dont say on their menu which sobas are cold vs hot, so double check if ur expecting one thing.
they have an actual duck soba w pieces of duck but it seemed a little much (duck 3 ways) and i dont think i like duck in my soba enough to pay that much, but it might hit for some. i will note that not all places w duck soba do it well enough to be worth the price--sometimes the ducks just not cooked well. based on some of their google reviews, it seems maybe hit or miss, but the misses cld just be growing pains

cant taste the buckwheat at all, but not bad i suppose--was never a raindrop cake enthusiast

my overall impression is that this spot is very creative in terms of soba toppings and incorporating soba/buckwheat into various dishes and drinks which i think is really interesting. i think its very ambitious, i am for the vision

Girlfriend took too long to buy tickets to Japan and the price went up.

So now I'm going to Ireland on the 24th.

One thing I like to do when traveling in foreign countries is look up Michelin restaurants in those countries and visit them. Just looked at a few in Ireland and they all look good!

As it is Ireland, would also strongly recommend visiting Pub’s and trying their beer as well. Enjoy brother! Take pictures of the food and alcohol you consume and share with us.
