hello
i have been eating
dominique ansel workshop: they were doing a collabo w eric sze frm wenwen/886 (i actually feel eh bout both restos--his foods rly rly salty)
shao bing--filled w braised pork belly, homemade preserved mustard greens, candied peanuts. to keep it a buck, it was rly good but the mustard greens made it 2 salty, but i just got some of it off and it was perf.
came w a peanut milk (penaut mi jiang)
we genuinely woke up at 8 am for this s*** i would not have done this if it was not lny and i wanted to feel my asian oats
hk style hot dog bun in the back (not part of the collab, just looked intriguing)

spongies cafe--the sponge cakes r v good
i went 2 days in a row and they were sold out of basically everything besides the og sponge cake both days LOL
i did go during lny weekend tho
very good--very eggy, which i rly do enjoy. their thai tea is 2 sweet tho

mei lai wah bakery buns... we went on saturday and the line was round the block presumably bc lny and the tourist flood. but we were waiting for a table at kong sihk tong next door so it worked ok
wanted 2 pick up banh tet or banh chung from chinatown but the places i hit were sold out or closed. i got nem chua instead--fermented pork thing w vermicelli noodles. s*** is s p i c y. this is from banh mi co ut
unrelated 2 asia so therefore going last in this comp:
tuscan bread soop, good way 2 use up leftovers food52.com/recipes/19721-pappa-al-pomodoro-tuscan-bread-soup-with-a-sage-oil-drizzle
lny dinnr
we went 2 ariari-- new busan themed korean resto
what we got:
mak hwe (halibut and something something lettuce wrap)
scallop gimbap (top) + octopus sook hwe bottom left... was sort of like a octopus poke ig but not the same flavorings at all. i think they put stewed nori on top or something, v good
salmon hwe muchim w makgeolli ice on the side (normally on top but one of the girlies eats halal)... was sort of like a salmon poke ig but not the same flavorings at all
fried soft shell crab w scallion yuja aioli (tbh just tasted like regular aioli. fried soft shell crab was fried soft shell crab)
glazed jang-eo (fried sea eel + fried eggplant in korean raspberry sauce which ive never had but was good)
seafood pancake--enjoyed a lot
spicy seafood udon (was not spicy, and the noodles were sogg. pass)
seafood stew (was pretty bland tee bee aich, pass)
omija bingsoo (never had omija aka schisandra berry.... which is just the fanciest name for a berry lol)
i enjoyed but it was not amazing
corn creme brulee (hated the white chocolate on it, pass)
last but not least

was cravying ootoya so i made ootoya style pickles, broiled salmon, hijiki salad, miso soup
there is a lady at the grand bazaar who has a stand selling rum cakes
it is good, very moist and rummy. i got the choco almond
banh mi from high lua. i got the bo bun hue and the beef pho from them recently as well and i enjoy all their stuff.
Back in my sandwich making phase again. Iβll start posting pics of them. I made a BLT yesterday and it turned out pretty good but Iβm gonna have to start omitting the third slice of bread in the middle, itβs just unnecessary filler.
We eatin
