Cachet De Vois was a duo consisting of a young Brian Alexander Morgan and LaChelle Mathenia. The duo released only one album, Personal (1988), on Warner Bros. Records. Contractual disagreements and a lack of promotion led to the group's disbandment. Leading to the young BAM becoming the nucleus for a musical trio from New York, known to all as SWV.

Hidden from sight in the R&B community until rediscovered in the early 2020s thanks to Nas & Hitboy's usage of "If Only" on "No Phony Love" for King's Disease 2 (2021).

I have to admit, hearing this was such a pleasure. Brian Alexander Morgan's background in the church is displayed even more throughout Personal. Gospel and Post Disco/Boogie sounds were already merging at this point (Ex. Commissioned, Everett Haughton, Kenny Smith, Hirjah, Robert Clayborne).
However, the layering of the vocals is so enchanting. As if there was a choir singing behind BAM and LaChelle. Take into account this is still an R&B album, so they're not as vocally prominent as the production needs some breathing room too . BAM's ability to implement his piano skills is structured well too. Whether it is the intro or bridge, BAM pays attention to what is needed and intended.

Not going to lie, I often hear elements of Michael Cooper and Roger Troutman in small doses

Some people might be a bit put off by the aforementioned 80's Post Disco/Boogie synth-textured sounds. However, the album solves adolescent Aquilla's theory that SWV's sound originated from 80s Post Disco/Boogie and Personal answers my musical hypothesis to a T
