π«‘ Can tell u put a lot of work into it. Good cohesion throughout & the instrumental interludes break things up nicely
One personal feedback Iβd have now, hearing the whole project is to lessen the effects on vocals on some songs & bring them up in the mix more.
I like how the instrumentation switch up & progresses naturally in songs. & all nice grooves
Thank you! I wanted the mix to feel it was "inside of each other" but I will def take note.
Effects on my end was half part of the theme and part of a personal confidence thing that I didn't get used to till later on in the album such as Feel What's Real and A New Light, later half of songs done, where I got more comfortable with being more dry with myself. Then on some songs I would bounce effects to add variation since I didn't have any features this time, but a lot of it was def early creation build outs π

actually gave this a fair shake just now and the beats on here are pretty decent for the most part
vocally though i think could use a lot of work as i couldnt really hear you clearly on a lot of the songs. the hooks were also not so great either (specifically identity theft me and im a dog). im also not jacking the use of ai in the artwork / visualizers to be frank
not sure if this is your first album or so but with a couple tweaks and more time in the oven you could def come out with something great

None of them are AI, besides Come On Over visualizer video that has an AI filter plus personal editing of a real life video - which I talked about earlier when it dropped - it's a pixel art filter with 30 so generations of a homegirl at a club that we then cloned her and I then edited it frame by frame and cut down. Which I then morphed further with filters and added art and layout. Nothing else is AI involved besides a few definition upscalers I used on a few assets. So i don't get that issue.
What songs could you not hear clearly? I haven't heard that issue before and ive already been booked for a few paid live sets.
This is my first personal full project, I appreciate the listen & that you think something is there! Next project has just recently just started where I have scheduled with collaborators with this project is being used as like a portfolio showcase!

Most of them the vocals are buried
Just use some mid side on the inst bus to cut the mids from somewhere between 800-3k and conversely boost the voc main buss in that area in the mid.
Will focus a bit
Live is different
You can mix in a parallel comp blend mono too if you want but it won't really help with the masking too much
If you care about that, that is....

Normally when you're doing Rap or contemporary RnB you usually want the vocals really upfront - but for dance and more instrumental focused music you usually want the vocals blended or on par with the soundscape while still keeping the dynamics of your overall sound, which I thought I achieved
I didn't want to take the mids out of the instruments too much because i felt it hollowed it out and flatten "killing" it - and I also didn't want the vocals to overpower and smother the sound, which I have a personal pet peeve about vocals being "too upfront" that I usually battle with while mixing other records, but with my own tracks and in a genre(s) moreso on the groove n sound I felt it was appropriate
Will remember the critique tho and develop a compromise for the next project and keep the levels in check!

That's why I said if you care about that, that is.
And I'm not saying to cut the mid frequencies. I'm saying to cut the mid frequencies a little in the mid channel of the mid frequencies using mid side eq.
If you have a decently large stereo spread it wouldn't feel like your missing much
But also yes.

Yeah I want them blended keeping dynamics intact but still have clarity n audible vocals - I didn't want one or the other to overtake each other or to "strip" one - there is only one track I felt wasn't as clear as I wanted/aimed for which was second verse on To Your Neighbor, which is where part of my question regarding what is and isn't clear with Hayabusa came from, part of it of course can be my bias ears since ""I"" know what it exactly is, but I haven't gotten that you "can't hear" or tell at all from the testing I've done on standard home equipment and to studio equipment and with regular people n music/business people (which is why I brought up the live shows things, cuz if they thot it was too swallowed then I assume they wouldn't accept it) - and I've had older mixes critiqued too that then got reworked.
N yeah I got what u meant, I didn't think you meant to just completely duck the mid range - side eqing is a good point tho and not something I've done often!
Regarding vocals being buried, do you think there's tracks not clear and like Hayabusa, also hard to hear? And if so, which songs are "better" in that regard, if u have heard the full project. As I said, I do want more of a blend and same line of the vocals and instrumentals with keeping dynamics fulls, but I still of course want vocals to have a presence, and any advice to improve that goal and design philosophy is much appreciated π
