And again, just to put my balls on the table one more time, everything is written, conceptualized, produced, mixed/mastered and sang by me myself and I on this song and all the others for this project - and no samples or premade loops π€ ππ
I'm so glad, I had the main instrumental "chorus" but for like half a year I made during a session and couldn't figure out what to do with it till earlier this year and then it all came together - I'm glad it worked out
it's addicting man, saved it to my car playlist

Hell yeah! I made sure to make the bass during the verses rattle hard and to have this "rolling" element to all of it
S***s like an earthquake and a tumbling ocean wave
WE WON
WE ARE ALMOST AT THE FINISH LINE TOO
Pretty visuals

I made the coverart and video visualizer, while me n a friend of mine recorded all the footage together
WALKIN WALKIN WALKIN IN A NEW LIGHT

FOR ALL MY NIGGAS FORCED TO BE THE VILLAIN DUE TO THE CARDS THEY WERE DEALT BUT STILL STRIVE TO WALK IN A NEW LIGHT
Patiently waiting
Literally me the last few weeks, had to stop myself from just leaking my own s*** due to all the self anticipation and excitement

One of my homies said he loves how chill but simultaneously hard and the song came out and gives it this psychedelic hypnotic vibe to it that is both aggressive asl but also like "serene"

I absolutely agree with him lmao. Makes the feel like the last hour/hour and a half of the trip where you start coming back to reality, kinda like waking up early in the morning

2 things I wanted the song to feel when I was conceptualizing it
1. I wanted it to feel like a climax of coming to a crossroads for a person that has to decide what path they really want to lead down.
And 2. I wanted it to feel like a soundtrack to a "villain" that also has a heart and there's a reason why they might be (or used to be) who they were, kinda like an antihero but no quite. A sympathetic "reasonable" villain that also has a understandable/valid reason why they're doing what they're doing - like a criminal just trying to feed their family.
There's experiences of myself irl and also those Ive known that inspired it as well, but I didn't want it to be too linear or a direct story, I wanted it to still be open to the listener and applicable/relatable to themselves and applicable to other similar events that may be happening in their lives even if it isn't as drastic or exact
I like creating songs that give a piece of me as a person, but also isn't so on the nose or so autobiographical that it still could feel like it can fit the listener or feel like I'm also talking about the listener, and I think A New Light along with Feel What's Real hit the mark for my satisfaction of that ethos/concept
Anyways, outside my yapping, more importantly I'm GLAD YOU N OTHERS JUST ENJOY IT
A New Light and the last single, Feel What's Real, are my two fav songs off the album
Along with the intro song, Call You Tomorrow, the 2nd Instrumental Interlude, The Nights 2AM, & another song called You Used Too
HMs to the 3rd track, Wash My Hands, and the 4th n final single in September, Come On Over
But the other half of the album is still great too don't worry ππ€βοΈ
Idk if u noticed but I learned how to fully do and properly understand side chaining few months ago and it improved the bass parts during the verses so much more on A New Light on the release version compared to the early album copy I sent u months ago @Aquilla
Learned how to side chain while still KEEPING THE PUNCH (that usually a lot of people f*** up on while side chaining) of the bass itself while providing full clarity to the kick and bassline - I used to dislike sidechaining due to how many people half ass it
I still wont sidechain unless I feel like I gotta but it's a new full tool in my arsenal that also imo improved this track so much and the only track on the album that needed it by giving so much more clarity to the "rolling" pattern n effect I created for the bass on this track ππ€
