    biggie ran rap from 94-95
    pac ran 96

By YOUR logic, How could they run those years if Warren G and Bone Thugs ran 94-95 as they were the highest selling? Or Pac in 96 if the Fugees were top selling?

how is this an era? A rap beef happened and people are dragging it to hell.

Snoop “ran” 93-94 so much that he also inspired BIG. So BIG probably was ran 95.
But this whole “running the game” thing is funny because no one person runs hip hop especially with how organic and diverse scenes are. LA rap is different than Atlanta which is different from Chicago etc. It’s never been really on some “great man theory” s***. Everyone cross mingles with their sounds and the sounds of others but its always rooted in the foundations of their hometown

Kenny had an amazing lil run from April 2024 until summer 2025, but in what world is that an "era"

  • why is it called "Dot Era"

    he never ran rap.

he was absolutely one of the guys running rap from '98 (when I got Hard Knock Life) till around WTT

you aint answer how old you are but I was collecting every XXL and The Source I could get my hands on for many of those years and its a fact

Nas was irrelevant too because Illmatic and It Was Written weren’t the top selling albums(according to the chart watchers logic lol)

fr like even Eminem came and went as a blip of time in the expanse of Jay staying on or near the top of the game

they were still hotter/bigger in the culture and if 7dt dropped earlier in 96, pac would've sold more than the fugees. like no1 was saying warren g was bigger than biggie in 94.

It's when Kendrick puts out good music and his peers mostly don't but that's his fault for some reason

I AGREE. WE HAVE TO STOP EXPLAINING IT TO THESE OVHOES BUMSSS

i didnt say hov wasnt hot i said he never ran rap. there was always someone with a bigger movement, more hits, bigger album, more impact, more discussed etc

obviously there are other stars doing their thing but that doesn't change my point. It's like saying TI ran rap in 08 when wayne clearly had the bigger moment overall with all the hits, c3, verses, etc.

  • btw pac went 7x plat in 96 with aeom so fugees def wasnt moving the same way if you just looking at numbers lol

  • Benny Boy

Any of these in your top 5 Future tapes?

Jay 100% was in that mix from 1998 to 2003 and I would say 1999 was his outright.

Future became the first artist in history to have 3 #1 albums in the same year off the strength of the Dot era, so no
