Remy vs Nicki did no damage to nicki when she still has a fanbase 12 years in that’s stronger than ever and carrying her hits

Meanwhile, Remy’s dumb ass just opened a lane for Cardi to come in and take her spot that she was hyping up since she came out of jail

Yeah a lot of niggas on here haven't been listening to rap for long. They see a shether or rap devil and get hype off that and that's all that matters to them. They don't see the bigger picture when an artist wins by moving on and not giving anymore clout. Rappers like Nicki, Em and Drake lost the battle but win the war. The new rap fans hold on to that one moment because that's all they know

That's why Cardi's run has more merit. There is no YM that has carried her to this position.

No, just millions of marketing dollars from the label and writers writing all the music that Cardi raps.

Nicki needs writers ASAP though because she’s pretty awful lately.

  • Jun 2, 2021

She was doing songs with Ross, Kanye, Cam, Fab, Nas, Meek, Eminem, Wayne, Drake, Future etc. during her era.

It's not really fair to say she didn't have competition, she played with the guys and held it down

The women rappers today aren't playing by the rules she had to play by.

Nicki just haven’t had a good hit in a looong time. Cardi and Meg are pushing out more work and are charting well + a lot of men like cardi and megs music more than nicki these days

True, but she took a break to be a mom after the number one with Tekashi though.

She also had Tussa, and some remixes that did pretty well, also

The Pinkprint is her best imo, and he wasn't around then.

Somewhat yes, somewhat no. There were definitely a lot of female rappers around during the early 2010s. Unfortunately not many of them had that Pop/R&B and Rap crossover appeal like Nicki did. Tink could've been that but that was a whole weird situation with Timbaland and all that. The moment Nicki had actual competition with another female rapper in her particular lane of music Nicki "fell off". But in her "falling off" it did allow more female rappers to start popping off.

These days we got Rico Nasty, Kari Faux, Meg thee Stallion, Armani Caesar, Cardi B, Flo Milli, Noname, City Girls, Young M.A., Saweetie, Kash Doll, Mulatto, Coi Leray, etc all making noise. Like this the most female rappers I've seen so popular around the same time within my lifetime. When I was growing up it was mostly just Lil Kim, Foxy Brown, Missy Elliott, and Trina who were the most popular female rap artists. Around the time the 2010s came though it really was just predominantly Nicki (and surprisingly Iggy Azalea briefly) who was the most popular. Sure you had Kilo Kish, Angel Haze, Dej Loaf, Tink, Jean Grae, Rapsody, Princess Nokia and them who were making genuinely solid music. But they ain't really take off like that besides maybe Rapsody, Dej Loaf, and some degree Princess Nokia.

She wasn’t competing with just females

In female rap she was just on another level and no one was able to do it like her, so there was no competition because they couldn’t get there to begin with

And then when they did pop off ain’t nobody say Cardi above Nicki, she was going for her spot but didn’t get it. Meg ain’t finna get that spot either.

It’s like tryna say Roddy/Lil Baby are going for Drakes spot, they at the top going crazy but they ain’t taking his spot, just like Meg/Cardi going crazy but they ain’t takin Nickis spot

6ix9ine ain’t a pedo? That’s cap? She didn’t try to mooch off his buzz? Not once, but twice? That never happened?

Thats crazy because nicki fans took that second song to number 1

Nicki already lost her spot. Literally remy made her fumble. I dont see how yall think nicki was competing with men. She wasnt cus shes ass compared to the male contemporaries. Lets keep it based around women. Which there was none around to go against. Not cus she was so great. She was so great because there was no megs, cardis, or dojas.

  • The Pause Police

Not really tho. Thats like saying lil kim birthed nicki. Which is true but what does that matter in this line of questioning. I dont see meg being birthed by nicki.

Your original question is actually irrelevant in itself tbh

Nicki didnt actively create the environment when she was on top so theres no reason to put that against her or even bring it up

we can play what ifs for days but at the end of the day, Nicki ran the game during her prime

I listened to rap from 02 until 4:44. After that everything became too trap for me. You act like I listened to rap for 2 or 3 albums lmao

That's why I laugh when people say Nicki went pop and that's why they don't like her, her first album was already a pop rap album with heavy pop anthems.

I'm just saying that the public didn't give a s*** about her, they only liked "Lean Back" 2.

tbf, i say i stopped liking Nicki as much bc she went pop because i started listening to her during the mixtape days, so Pink Friday was already going pop

was v upset when Super Bass became the biggest hit rather than anything else on the album bc i knew she’d be going more pop after that. then Starships came out & it went downhill from there

I think we keeping this strictly rap/hip-hop and if that is the case then Nicki very clearly did not have any other female rapper as legitimate competition at her level for majority of the 2010s. That's just plain cut facts.

With that being said, due to her crossover appeal into the pop music realm, her main competition were the other pop acts of the 2010s. She was just on another level that other female rappers weren't touching. No slight to them at all of course, it just is what it is
