N95 is kendricks most embarrassing song. Extremely blatant and desperate hit attempt. He wanted to force another humble
The examples in op are just from npcs that don't know how to articulate themselves like a critic does. But no unfortunately they're not far off. It really is a weak album made worse by the long hiatus building up a highly anticipated comeback album. N95 while it's an ok song really doesn't fit, same goes for the Kodak songs. We needed more Father Time songs and less of the other stuff
This nigga crashed out and went on a racist rant against black people cause niggas on twitter were being racist against Indians
yet it was just white 4chan trolls
another rap account that isn’t ran by a nigga @SegaDreamFlash
It depends on the artist and what the listener expects. With Kendrick, the listener expects some groundbreaking s***. A truly once in a generation listening experience--first listen through a Kendrick album. Like Yeezus, his fan base and the general public wasn't ready for it.
With time it becomes clearer and clearer that it's a gem of an album and one of the best of the 2020's so far, for sure
Ironically they expect something generational and classic but usually generational classics are not what people were expecting lol
It’s an oxymoron that plagues a lot of artists especially the ones with the most hype behind them.
Worst fallout from the beef is the revisionism with this album
who thought drake could lose so badly that mr morale could be considered classic
i do also think the mainstream leaning songs (Die Hard, Rich Spirit, Silent Hill etc.) aren’t as well produced nor executed compared to the tracks he did on DAMN either personally, i feel like he struck that balance of substance and mainstream appeal nearly flawlessly on DAMN
i find that most of the tracks that i enjoy the most are the ones that aren’t trying to be listenable or catchy necessarily (e.g. Worldwide Steppers, Savior, Father Time, Mother I Sober)
decent project all in all though. they talk about this album like he dropped The Big Day or some s***
I actually think Die Hard for example is massively better than LOVE or LOYALTY. Both good songs but Die Hard just feels and sounds like a massive upgrade to me personally. I feel like the melodies on DAMN were dwarfed by the sounds on morale
Noticing a pattern here

You are starting to sound like the fanbase you claim to hate. The album just was not good.

Die Hard is smooth as s*** for whatever it’s worth and is probably one of the stronger mainstream cuts, i just definitely wouldn’t say it’s better than the pop accessibility of DAMN in terms of direction, performance, or sound (besides maybe LOYALTY? idk) i’m a huge fan of LOVE though lol

This where I'm at with it pretty much
mother i sober is an s-tier Kendrick song but it doesn't make up for how weak like 65% of the album is
Eh...not really.
The album was polarizing from the get go due to differing from The Heart Pt. 5 and Family Ties which is what many rap fans thought was the direction Kendrick would go in.
MMTBS is unique in that it's neither a commercially friendly or rappity rap type of album. It's, instead, a super personal album that's very vulnerable and deep much like 4:44.
So, MMTBS wounded up not appealing to many of the younger DAMN era Kendrick fans who were expecting bangers/hits or many of the older GKMC era fans who were expecting an album to showcase Kendrick's greatest display of rapping and storytelling.
To be sure, Kendrick raps well on MMTBS but the rapping isn't as much of a focus as the content.
Also, Kendrick ticked off certain fanbases when he claimed he was "smoking on your top 5 tonight" on Family Ties and that, on top of the hiatus, made people have a very high set of expectations for him.
Overall, there might have been some bots but it really was and still is Kendrick's most polarizing album.

I'm there was at least one Damn-sounding song on that album
