this is a result of her parents weirdly overt traditionalism/conservatism, not any islamic teachings
Yeah but these traditions are justified by their religious views. That's not exclusive to Islam at all, but you can't say that it has nothing to do with religion tho.
Nah i was an airplanephobe tho.
Used to watch cnn movies about airplane crashes and how you had to swim to survive.
Calculated how everybody in my family would die except for my dad and my dad just might say f*** it and die with us.
I was 6.
Between nickelodeon and cartoon network there was CNN and Fox news, around the time 9/11 happened and years later, all they would report on was how ya'll were out there tryina shoot everything in sight.
That s*** was fckng scary as a kid
moving to Jakarta as a teen and finding out ya'll are actually normal had me like

You were brainwashed, until you moved outside the US and realized the world isnt as the media portrays
Islam is fine but I’m not a fan of Wahhabism.
Saudia Arabia still practices slavery, denies rights for women , and fund terrorism to overthrow other Muslim countries. They also try to justify these actions by manipulating religious texts which isn’t fair because it gives Muslims a bad rep.
I was scared of another terrorist attack but I knew well enough that not all Muslims were terrorists and not all terrorists were Muslim
Made offensive jokes about them when I was a kid
Probably didn’t help I watched so many adult cartoons when I was younger
But most kids I went to school with would make some offensive joke
Idk about full islamophobe probably not I don’t think so
It all depends. Obviously it is terrible what is going on in some of their countries and even more so in China. As for the people here there is just some things I cant really tolerate cause their behavior just conflict with my believes.
For example a girl in my class was engaged in 8th grade and wanted to have instagram. Her family only allowed it when her account was supervised by her future husband. She got married the moment she turned 18 and was legally allowed to do so. That is women’s rights for yall
You have to understand, this sounds just as absurd to me and my Muslim friends as it does to you
I grew up in a densely Muslim/black community in Brooklyn
I can understand why kids who grew up in white neighborhoods or in the Midwest or some s*** against Muslims because they only see them in the news
Like you guys have no idea how many posters you f*** with on this site that are middle eastern or Muslim
You guys have the same opinion in music, lifestyle and everything
how ya'll even find out about the outside world before the internet, we was literally in a bubble in my hood
So did you find out that Muslim people were ok once you discovered the internet, or after you moved to asia ? Which one
I thought the hood you keep referring to was in Germany too? Massive turk presence there
nah they taught us not to be prejudice in our school

I have stopped discussing anything related to race or religion with suburban white kids on the internet cus it's like talking to a brick wall most of the time
Nah, ain’t never put too much thought into it. Just knew 9/11 was some extremist s*** or by bush lmao
