1. listen to the performance for the first time, not understand the message or underlying themes and just try to enjoy the sounds. understand that this isn’t gonna be like the others.
2. listen to the performance for the second time, not understand the message but this time around you’ll acclimate to its sound. it won’t throw you off and it’ll start to grow on you.
3. listen to the performance a third time and this time read the lyrics and try to interpret the meaning behind it. things will start to make more sense, the metaphors behind the bars will shine through and the message will be more prevalent.
already on my third listen, this time with goodasssub open and a notepad. it grows on you, i promise. this will be regarded as one of kanye’s best performances one day.
You forgot Step 5:
Listen to it backwards and ponder the order of the new track list. Consider the meaning of each track in chronological order, and what may happen if the story went in an opposite direction. The remarkable depth hidden in reverse may suprise you. 🤓
