I'm not sure why KTT turned its back on Donda.
Donda, imho, is easily on the level of TLOP or close to it but not one the level of the first 6 albums.
Only issue was the bloat but there's only like 4 songs out of close to 30 that I think are bad.
That's a strong ratio.
It's weird too because I was on here when people loved Donda and claimed Ye was back but some of those same exact people are now lumping it in with JIK and Vultures which I just can't see at all.
The best songs on Vultures and JIK aren't halfway as good as Donda's best songs.
I lowkey feel it's due to people falling out of love with Kanye as a person and associating the Donda era and album with his insanity from Oct 2022 and onward.
Fully agree
It's cause 90% of Ye's fanbase thinks his s*** don't stank & anything he puts out is gold.
In regards to "5:30", I think cats are mad at the fact it's literally been untouched. He literally threw the s*** out on streaming & called it a day.
Same goes for "Can U Be" before adding the Ty verse.
I personally think bro's semi washed & has been since "JIK" but still shows glimpses of genius which reels us in.
I think the inconsistency's due to his manic behavior.
It's self inflicted too which I have no remorse for.
Cutting psych meds off cold turkey & huffing nitrous is the result of his downfall.
I also think he's hanging around the wrong crowd too which is bringing his creativity down.
We would've never known 530 and Can U Be were untouched if our perception of these track weren't tainted with leaks.
If they never leaked, I believe they'd be received much more positively.
Leaks are ruining the listening experience.
I have no opinion on Ye's mental health or his history of addiction. As far as I'm concerned it's all hearsay and word of mouth.
Fully agree
Thanks. I thought my comment would ruffle feathers.
But it's crazy seeing specific niggas go from praising Donda as being on the level of TLOP or better for a whole ass year then switching it up now that Ye tarnished his run(to a degree) with the Vultures album.
At least I stayed true to my original opinion that Donda was a decent album but not top tier or classic like his others(same opinion I had in fall of 2021). There's niggas here who were praising the s*** out of Donda who are now lumping it in with JIK and V1/V2.
Just comes across as bandwagon hype. I've seeing niggas do the same thing with Her Loss too. Nobody trashed that album on here until the Kendrick beef when niggas started lumping it in with CLB and FATD. Bandwagon s***.

DONDA is an incredible record, and I honestly think it will be looked back on as a classic after it's all said and done. I wouldn't consider it bloated either.
Only 3 out of the main 23 songs are skips and all the pt.2's are just DLC. Compare that to TLOP which has 4 filler tracks and I'd say DONDA is comparatively less bloated than TLOP.
People just throw the bloated label on DONDA because of it's runtime.

See my comment above.
I swear it's mostly bandwagon s*** because Ye destroyed his PR and reputaton from late 2022 to now.
Very few were lumping Donda with JIK/Ye on here without an argument. And Donda's best songs are in another stratosphere than the Vulture's albums best songs.
Niggas in that other thread tried to label it a "bad" album. How the f*** can a damn near 30 track project with only 4 songs tops that can be labeled duds be "bad?" Is the standard just that high for Ye?
It's definitely not a classic imho but it's at the very least comparable to TLOP in quality.
Imagine listening to Jail, Come To Life, Heaven And Hell, Life Of The Party(with 3 Stacks), Off The Grid, BWIS, Jesus Lord(both versions), and Hurricane and thinking "man...this s*** is terrible B. It's only about b****es and hoes and sounds like garbage."
I swear...niggas need to learn the concept of nuance when grading albums. There's a whole spectrum between bad and classic.

For sure, I do think fans have unreasonable expectations for certain artists. Kanye and Kendrick are two musicians in hip hop, that are expected to continually drop classics and out-do their previous work which is unrealistic. At some point their music will see a decline in quality, and that's where we're at with Ye.
Ye-Stans are in shambles because they just witnessed a legend release an album that did not live up to his reputation. Even with JIK, you could give that album the benefit of the doubt. Kanye was trying his hand at a different vibe/genre and was in a different headspace, but with Vultures, you can't give him that same leeway. It's obvious that Ye tried to compete in the current hiphop landscape and under-delivered.
Regardless I think it's corny how the fans switched up after the release of V2. I think V1 and V2 are decent and not nearly as bad as people are making them out to be, but some fans were so caught up in the hype and the leaks that they built up these albums to be some meteoric comeback in their head and it wasn't.
Ye fans are hella butthurt and are now acting like everything post-Kids See Ghosts was mid, which is not true and obvious cope.
Like you said there's a spectrum between bad and classic. A lot of post-2018 Ye falls somewhere in that spectrum, and Kanye d*** riders are having a hard time coming to terms with that.
FOREVER - HUSBAND - LIFESTYLE - SKY CITY - MY SOUL
Damn near perfect run to end the album, even with the botched up Sky City.

And this s***
Sounds better than before
Enough time has passed. Can the Ye Stan community finally admit that Carnival is one of the worst records he's ever made?
Horrible post
Better than 90% of Vultures 2
Also horrible post
