JonboiWell, I think the purpose of art is entertainment, but that's using my very autistic definition of entertainment. I think art that makes you think or feel connection is still entertainment. Jeanne Dielman is entertaining.

Personally, I think the best way to judge art is by how much it entertained you. Have you been thinking about it for a week? Well, must have entertained you a lot. Did you feel maximum satisfaction while watching it? Highly entertaining. All art is trying to entertain, it's just trying to entertain in different ways. But, obviously there's a certain connotation that people have about the word entertainment.

Do u actually think the person who commented that would be entertained by jeanne dielman? I completely agree that being "entertained" by a movie/tv show totally depends on your own taste, I would be completely bored out of my mind watching the latest marvel movie even tho it's a product made to "entertain"
My comfort movie is Hard To Be a God, I watch it every month and yet I still understand why general audiences wouldn't get past the first 10 minutes. For me, is the most "entertaining" movie ever.
But that og comment went for the angle of entertainment being solely related to pacing and plot.

Lmaooo yo why are you going so hard? Literally in my post I admitted that the visuals are superb. The art and cinematography of this past episode is why I rate it a 7.That is an element that keeps me watching weekly. But bro, this episode is not up to my liking nor standards from a general perspective and that is okay. I’m still invested and I’ll still be here next week seeing how the story plays out.

Sometimes in mood for entertainment, introspection , suffering , sometimes just to see a story. You linking any form of joy from watching a show or consuming art to marvel tik tok brain rot slop has nothing to do with me . Again I enjoyed the fly episode of breaking bad and find many things entertaining or enjoyable including parts of this episode

As someone who liked the new episode, y’all gotta stop with these takes man lmao, someone is allowed to dislike this show. It’s very slow and very isolated, it’s not surprising that the average viewer would be turned off by it.
The show is good but I think some of y’all are going a tad bit overboard with the praise and attacks on others specifically because it’s a Vince Gilligan production

This isn’t true man. Plot has ALWAYS been the #1 most important factor for casual viewers of film & TV. When you ask the average person what they think about a show or a movie, 99% of the time they are going to base their opinion around what they thought of the story. This has always been the case, it wasn’t something created during this generation.
All of that other stuff that makes the medium of film great is mostly for weirdos like us who spend our free time typing on forums about it
