It’s a show don’t tell show but sometimes it just keeps showing the same idea . Example of carols loneliness with hot springs , museum , golfing , singing , lyrics of the songs she sings , howling with wolves , fireworks alone ( looking at sky trying to find same sense of wonder as aurora borealis or a reason to look up at all ) . Like I get it she depressed I’m depressed looking at her in many ways . I know we had to see her break down while at same time seeing construction of manusos. It’s key that he is actually determined and isn’t taking help . He is learning English because he unlike Carol refuses to let ( internet ) ( ai) ( hivemind ) translate his message he wants to speak directly to Carol . He is crossing old borders including borders created by dangers of nature to do so .

Meanwhile Carol kind of lounging continuously calling the hive . Trusting the hive to deliver and translate her message . She could have tried calling him after figuring out they eat humans. Could try learning Spanish . Part of why she sings songs at all is because she misses the past world . Also because she like us misses human voices it’s natural . So when we go from f*** em to it’s tepid to her terrify reunion with zoisia it’s earned but with 45 minute episodes so many of them we wish it was a hour partially due to the cliffhangers being harsh each episode

I thought the latest episode was the best since the premiere. maybe cause I needed a break from Carol's storyline, but seeing Manousous travel through South America and the Darien Gap was very entertaining imo

more engaging than seeing Carol go grocery shopping or some s***, can't get how some of y'all think this was the worst episode

to each their own tho, the pretentiousness has gotten a bit out of hand but that always happens with Vince shows

I know people hate hearing this and think it's a copout but the last 5 years of burning our attention spans into the ground during & post covid with doomscrolling & tiktok obsession has really f***ed up everyone's ability to tolerate slow burn no phone out tv/media. virtually NOBODY I know reads books anymore for example. everything has to be instant gratification and easily explained without subtext because that's how our brains are molded to engage with things now, so when it's not like that there's an inherent frustration
