the new songs remind me of why I cared abt uzi in the first place
First Impressions
Space Cadet is solid, was teased for a while and always thought it was fine but the full version definitely has a standout beat and lyrics so if that’s the new direction he is taking I’m interested to see where it goes.
I Know was very good from the snippet but while I think the full version underwhelmed just a little it’s still a great grail to have released and that classic LIR2 era Uzi.
Flex Up, another 2017 Uzi song I didn’t know about even though there were snippets from back then and this was a pleasant surprise and great to hear Uzi on some more Malay Raw production. Definitely a standout for me and show’s Maaly’s production variety and Uzis ability to structure a song back then being top tier.
Hittin My Shoulders is just prime TPLT Uzi on Dun Deal prod (a massive surprise and huge success). This the standout of the unknown tracks that are old, definitely one of the biggest highlights and really makes me wonder how much other incredible music is just sitting in the vault from 2016.
For Fun I cannot believe it actually released. We basically had the whole song in snippet form for years but getting to hear it at full quality is beautiful. Just an amazing song and a crazy great grail to add to the collection.
Believe Me is kind of a massive letdown and not even for something I think was apparent in the snippets. Whatever the backing part of the beat is really kind of kills the song for me. But Uzi is just going off vocally. I really wish the beat was more open and didn’t have that weird pitched down vocal sample. So crazy I love hate this one.
Issa Hit starts strong but yeah this one is just fine. Not the worst offender on the high repeat chorus but kinda feels half baked. The kinda dissonant beat is a big draw and could see this going crazy at a concert very loud. A good addition and definitely a different direction.
Glock In My Purse is so f***ing funny, I cannot believe he dropped the gay slur 😭. I really like the beat and the lyrics are so one track minded that it reminds me of a newer Ye song in a lot of ways, just stream of mind. Definitely one of the most entertaining songs on the project I can enjoy on multiple levels.
Final Fantasy was a letdown and a bad way to end this EP. It’s so crazy the beat is crazy but the chorus is the song and it’s so repetitive I’m just turned off by a minute and a half in. It’s sad I think this is the worst offender of a song that just needed more time in the tank or a touch up.
Overall there’s lots of highs and a few lows. For an EP (shit it’s full 2016 Uzi project length) it’s a great mix of old and new and while I think some of the song decisions were great I think there may have been better options for a few. Overall positive on this and am definitely hype for Pink Tape whenever that comes.
nahhh u crazy for calling believe me and final fantasy letdowns
thats like my two favourites bro
Y’all thought this man fell off and he just dropped the second best project of the year
