bumping this thread because i just finished the podcast "Hunting Warhead" where they catch the largest distributor of Child Abuse Material in the world

they talk about this topic a lot near the end, and as bad as it might sound on the surface if you think about for more than a minute its true. Studies have found Pedophiles are born that way, which is f***ed up to even try and wrap your head around.

There needs to be open preventative psychological help for these people BEFORE they act on it and become monsters

Is this wrong though? Pedophilia is a mental illness that often develops because of a history of sexual abuse that’s not their fault. You can be a pedophile but not act on it.

Evil was a concept created prior to the adoption of psychology to explain people committing misdeeds (attributing it to light possession or service to someone sort of dark being), obviously with good acting as the polar opposite, but what constitutes goodness and even what’s evil has also evolved over time.

Yup. To me s***only makes sense when there's mutual attraction. Forcing yourself on someone against their will completely removes the human element from the experience. Just the thought of it alone is enough to make me sick to my stomach.

All you have to do is look at culture in the past before it’s become refined and certain things were seen as unacceptable to know that there’s a ton of people that have urges that they now repress.

and to the original point, to say "you can molest a kid and not be a pedophile," i understand that power of course plays a large role, but i simply can't imagine that you can derive some sort of satisfaction from performing a sexual act on a child yet there is no sexual attraction to children "in your heart of hearts" or whatever.
