Besides aesthetics and whatnot, likes were the best feature added to ktt2 from ktt1. In ktt1 a post's popularity/quality was kinda linked to people blank quoting it, and ktt2 did a great job of switching that measurement to the like feature. imo makes absolutely no sense to remove it

Idk dog, to me those random off topic posts are kind of a big allure to what makes ktt great. It's not just a forum for having intelligent discussion, but also for just f***ing around and having fun. I remember back before I came to ktt and had used other internet forums, there were so many rules that kept things more structured, but it also made everything so much more boring. I loved how on ktt I could basically post whatever tf I want (within reason, obviously) whenever tf I wanted to.

yea I get what you’re saying and like I don’t want KTT culture to change but removing likes doesn’t just mean every discussion is now going to be very serious and etc

It just means that there’s less of a validation incentive system in place systemically to encourage that and to encourage users to imitate what they see get likes and etc

Again it’s a trial but I’m personally hoping that this might keep the best parts of that culture while minimizing the worst parts

I really think likes should come back, sometimes when I’m scrolling fast I use the amount of likes to ignore the BS. Why not make it an option to turn on or off?

The posts that get a bunch of likes on the first page are usually hilarious lol it’s what separated KTT2 from KTT1

Without likes posting avys is gonna die, which is a huge part of KTT “culture”
