100% could see that and probably happy it didn’t end up that way cause it seems like Ryan was able to completely expand on that world making it its own thing.

the zone of interest, across the spiderverse, challengers, and anora were those ones for me. Dune 2 was up there too

Yeah, I mean it's a good movie, but I just don't feel like he hit that tone switch right. Like, what the vampires represent is cool, but I would rock with this if it was just a gangster picture with the smokestack twins, everything BUT the vampires had a lot of potential.

3rd viewing thoughts… ima need Grace after she takes the same long walk as Pearline

all of those are great too, and i think all of those are classics in the making, but the three that i mentioned just feels the most immediate imo

you never see Smoke smile until he holds his baby

Don’t get the hate on the shootout scene with the OG property owner at the end.

My favorite scene (excluding that scene) takes place there, when the property owner is on the floor bleeding, and then asks Smoke to spare him by pleading “I have money!” And then Smoke just rains bullets on him. Thought it was great payoff to close out Smoke’s arc with the whole businessman stuff.
